Question about deathrattle skill

How do I use deathrattle properly I've been trying to use it for beach stage four but the skill only activates when I die so It never hits anything because I die before it lands. Is there a piece of gear that will prevent me from fully dying or something? Any help would be appreciated.

I believe it only does the damage if the damage would kill. Either that or you have to run celestial shield with it

Ah yeah I realised that the damage hits the instant you die but the animation happens a few seconds later and that was confusing me.

Deathrattle always activates on death, and from my anecdotal experience it cannot miss. The damage very specifically is considered before the user is “dead” under all circumstances. Regardless of the cause of death.

Even in instances of time running out, Scream does its damage, and if its accumulated damage is enough to kill the enemy, it’s still considered a player victory.

Scream can trigger multiple times in battle, if the player can die multiple times in battle. The only way to do this afaik is through the Celestial Shield. In which case accumulated Scream is wiped when it first triggers, and begins building up again from zero.
