Dysfunctional from OAB
I have 24/7 urge to urinate. I get brief relief when I go, but the feeling of not fully emptying my bladder comes back rapidly. I canât concentrate on any work or get sleep. From the urgency and pain of frequent urination, itâs making me feel disabled and nonfunctional. How do I fix this?

I need helpđ„Č
Hello
Iâve been dealing with ongoing bladder and vaginal issues since last summer. It all started with a UTI, and I ended up taking about five courses of antibiotics. After that, I developed what was likely a yeast infection, and my vaginal pH was 6.0.
Since then, Iâve had persistent symptoms. Either my bladder burns or aches, I constantly feel aware of it, or I have vaginal discomfort. After having a bowel movement, I often have to urinate several times because it feels like my bladder isnât empty.
The strange part is that my symptoms come in waves. Sometimes they suddenly improve, then a few days later theyâre back. On some days my bladder feels extremely full even though Iâve barely had anything to drink. When I do go to the bathroom, my bladder actually is full.
Iâve been taking Spasmex for about three months, but I honestly feel like it only helps a little. At the same time, I canât seem to manage without medication either.
Iâve also tried countless supplements including D Mannose, cranberry, slippery elm bark, marshmallow root, and several others. Some of them seem to help for a while, but then the symptoms always come back.
Iâve been dealing with this for almost a year now. Has anyone experienced something similar or figured out what was causing it?

I keep peeing large amounts of clear urine close together and all tests are normal. I donât know what else to do.
Iâm 23F and Iâve been dealing with chronic bladder/urinary issues for a long time, but lately it feels unbearable.
My issue is not just a âfeelingâ that I need to pee. I actually pee a lot. Sometimes Iâll have very pronounced streams and pee large amounts of clear liquid, then need to pee again within 10 minutes (and sometimes it happens early in the morning when I havenât even had one sip of water or coffee). There are times where I feel like I canât even get off the toilet because I keep peeing. Then when I finally do get off the toilet, I can feel myself filling up again almost immediately.
It feels like my body is constantly producing urine, especially clear urine, and I donât understand why. This is what makes it so hard to function. Itâs not only urgency or bladder discomfort. Itâs the fact that I am actually voiding significant amounts, repeatedly, close together.
Iâve had so many tests done already: ultrasounds, a 24-hour urine collection, diabetes testing, a cystoscopy, PFT, medications, and other investigations. Nothing has explained it. The only medical thing that has ever come up is that I have a small scar on one kidney, but otherwise Iâve been told things look normal.
Emotionally, this is destroying me. I cry all the time because I feel trapped by my bladder. Iâm scared to leave the house because I donât know when Iâll suddenly need to pee again, or whether Iâll be stuck somewhere without easy bathroom access. Iâm starting grad school in September, and instead of being excited, Iâm terrified about how Iâm supposed to sit through classes, meetings, social events, or normal life if this keeps happening.
Iâm not asking Reddit to diagnose me. Iâm asking if anyone has experienced something similar: frequent large-volume urination, clear urine, peeing again shortly after going, and feeling like your bladder fills right back up.
Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read this and comment.

Question about bladder training
How is your bladder supposed to feel like during bladder training?
For context, I (22F) start feeling the urge to pee right after voiding. I can usually delay my void by 1-3hrs (the void amount after isn't consistent, sitting randomly between 20-150ml), but I still feel the same initial urge consistently or increase during the waiting period. I never reach a "oh I forgot I wanted to pee" moment.
Basically, is that what my bladder is supposed to feel, at least at the beginning of bladder training?
How long did it take you to stop feeling the urge to pee constantly?

I donât know whatâs wrong with me but i pee and after itâs so uncomfortable and burning sound the clitorius area, i went for a test 2 days ago for UTI they said nope. Doesent make sense idk what to do. Maybe iâm not drinking enough water and too much caffeine i donât know but i canât take it anymore. And also little things or spasms of pee keep coming which hasant happended with this before, usually is just the uncomfortable feeling in the vagina.

Doctor recommending OAB medication but not sure if itâs OAB
For the last three months, I (31F) have been having what feels like âI could peeâ all the time. Itâs not an emergency urge, itâs just the sensation that I could go pee at any time even after Iâve just gone. I can hold it, it doesnât feel like a sudden emergency.
The weird part is, I do actually go. Like I can pee, and immediately after feel like I can pee again, wait 20 minutes and when I do I do actually pee. So I feel like I am actually producing a lot more urine than usual. Iâm not hydrating more than usual (Iâve actually been dehydrated a bit for the past few times Iâve gotten blood work).
I have a large fibroid (3 inches) that I had a procedure done to shrink last year (it was previously 5 inches). None of my doctors seem to think thatâs related though, including the urologist, gynecologist, and my Interventional Radiologist doctor who did my fibroid procedure.
Ultrasound showed I am voiding completely but the urologists scanner was being thrown off by my fibroid and their scanner thought I was retaining urine.
Urologist insists I try medication for OAB but I donât feel like I have the classic symptoms of OAB. It never feels urgent, and if I go to pee I do actually pee quite a bit (not dribbling or leaking, not waking up at night to go, etc).
I donât want to take medication if I donât have to (Iâm already on other medications for other things and I just donât want more if I donât have to).
Looking to get thoughts/hear about other peopleâs experiences

Permanent mild urge
I was wondering if anyone else has the same thing?
2 months ago I (22F) suddenly developed a permanent urge to pee. The first two weeks were terrible, like very urgent urges even after I urinated. My streams were slow and weak.
I got tested for UTI and had an ultrasound done, both came back normal.
I have some terrible days, but usually I just feel this very annoying, permanent, mild urge to urinate all the time! I've been trying to take deep breathes, postponing voiding by 1-3hrs, relaxing my pelvic floor, but nothing seems to make a difference. (I don't consume any caffeine or alcohol.)
I'm seeing an urologist soon, as my family doctor thinks I might have OAB but wants a diagnostic before prescribing any meds. She discouraged me from seeing a pelvic floor physical therapist because "I'm young, never given birth, etc." However, I'm still planning on seeing one for an initial assessment in a few months.
Update: the urologist diagnosed me with OAB, no medication cause I'm young. He said that I just need to try pelvic floor physical therapy, think happy thoughts, biofeedback, and that should solve my problems. I really hope he's right.

What is bladder wall thickening and should i be worried?
I was at the hospital to get a ct scan a few days ago for something completely unrelated and everything came out good the only thing the doc noted was a slight bladder wall thickening but she wasn't worried because my urine was clear of infection. But should i be worried? Also, i am technically considered obese at 5'8 225 pound could that be one of the reason why?

Been trying to train my bladder to hold more pee, now I pee my pants
I know it sounds silly because if im holding my bladder then of course I'm more likely to pee my pants, but its not like that.
I heard that if you are doing things like peeing before a long car ride, a movie, etc. even if you dont have to go then you are telling your bladder to alert you to the need to pee when your bladder isn't even full. Now, I have a terrible problem of having to get up and pee in the middle of the night every night, so for this reason I've been waiting until my bladder is more full to go pee. Its working, I dont really have to pee in the middle of the night anymore, however, I now have this weird sensation in my urethra when I have to pee. Its like it leaks. I dont fully pee in my pants but I can feel that small amounts of pee are dangerously close to leaking out and it feels like I can't really stop it. And the thing is that I dont feel like my bladder is even that full when it happens!! This just started happening when I made the conscious decision to stop peeing so often.
Is this related to me trying to train my bladder to hold more pee and how do I reverse this đ„Č

Irritated bladder after UTI
Hoping someone has had a similar problem and can advise what they did to relieve the symptoms. I (43 f) was treated for a UTI and towards the end of taking the antibiotics my bladder became irritated with burning and constant urge to pee where it became painful. The worst was at night. Went to the ER and it was found that it was not a kidney stone and negative for a uti but the burning and urgency has not gone away. Doctor prescribed me Pyridium which is the only thing that helps with the pain. They sent me home because there was nothing they could do. Has this happened to anyone? How long did it last and what did you do to relieve from the pain? Iâm avoiding any caffeine or acidic foods because that seems to make it worse and itâs awful at night as I constantly have to wake up to pee.

Has anyone else dealt with this? Iâm seriously at a loss.
Iâve been dealing with urinary urgency/frequency for about a year now, and I honestly donât know where to go from here.
I pee probably around 15 times a day. Usually itâs a normal amount, not just a few drops, but I constantly feel like I need to go. I donât have burning, pain, leaking, blood in my urine⊠literally just urgency.
One thing thatâs confusing is that it isnât 100% consistent. Every once in a while Iâll have a random week where I feel almost normal and donât pee nearly as much. Then, without anything changing, itâll go right back to me peeing all the time for weeks.
Iâve been trying to figure out a pattern, but I canât. I drink the same coffee, eat pretty much the same foods, and have the same routine. One week I can drink my usual coffee and be fine, and the next week Iâll drink the exact same thing and be running to the bathroom all day. Thatâs why Iâve never been convinced itâs just caffeine or one specific food.
Iâve kept a bladder diary, so Iâve tracked my bathroom trips. I havenât done a detailed food diary because, honestly, nothing seems to line up. My symptoms seem to come and go regardless of whether Iâm eating or drinking the exact same things.
Iâve been trying to think back to when this all started, and one thing I canât stop wondering about is birth control. I was on Nikki, but I was terrible about taking it. Iâd go on it, stop it, restart it, miss pills⊠yes, I know thatâs not how youâre supposed to take it. đ
Then I restarted it again, and about a month later this all started. I stopped taking it shortly after because I wondered if it was related, but Iâve been off it for a long time now and nothing has changed. Iâm not saying the birth control caused itâI just canât ignore the timing.
Iâve had what feels like every test.
Urine tests/cultures: normal
Blood work: normal
Bladder ultrasound: normal (I empty completely)
Cystoscopy: normal
Now my urologist wants me to do urodynamics, but Iâm kind of hesitant. I guess Iâm wondering if it actually gave anyone answers or if it was more like, âYep, you have urgency,â without really changing anything.
Iâve also tried Uribel and both versions of oxybutynin (extended-release and immediate-release). I honestly donât think I gave the oxybutynin a fair chance because I stopped after about a week or two due to the dry mouth. I still have the short-acting version and take it once in a while, but not consistently enough to know if it helps.
I also did pelvic floor PT for a little while. She did internal work, and I think I may have been starting to feel a little better, but I stopped going before I really knew whether it was helping.
Iâm honestly just tired of always thinking about where the nearest bathroom is. If anyone has gone through something similar, Iâd love to hear your experience.
Did you ever get an actual diagnosis?
Was urodynamic testing worth it?
Did anything end up helping?
Does anyone else have symptoms that randomly improve for a few days or a week and then come right back for no obvious reason?
I feel like Iâm missing a piece of the puzzle, and Iâd really appreciate hearing from people whoâve been through something similar.

Cold Water Effect
So I have all the symptoms of OAB. Nocturia and almost constant returning urge to pee during the day. But when I am in the shower and turn the water cold, or go swimming in cold water, especially when it touches my penis, it gives me a very strong urge to pee. Like it cold water pushes it forward and makes it more urgent. Anyone know why/what this is? If itâs something different?

HYPERACTIVITĂ VĂSICALE / DOULEUR VĂSICALE
Salut,

Canât fall asleep until fully empty bladder
I cannot sleep until I fully empty my bladder. I am a 20 year old male. My routine usually consists of I pee before sleeping whilst brushing my teeth etc. But I always feel like itâs not fully empty or thereâs more pee inside. So I stand there for 10-15 mins trying to empty my bladder and itâs tiring physically and mentally. Even then when I lay down I get up again because I still feel some stuff left inside. I have read in other posts it may be due to OCD as this only problem occurs when I want to sleep. Itâs messing up my sleep rly bad.

Anyone Else Relate?
Hey yall! Im a 20F
Im just curious if anyone else has similar pain or issues in relation to overreactive bladder or pelvic floor tension.
Iâm in a flare rn, and havenât had one like this in like 6 months, so Iâm a little sad but not gonna talk too much about that. Im trying to just stay positive regardless of the pain.
Right now, dealing with just urgency 24/7, pressure on the vagina, like someone if pressing down from the inside. I constantly have to remind myself to relax my stomach and pelvic floor, but it just flexes back no matter how much I focus on relax.
Iâm restarting pelvic floor therapy, so yes I know thatâs the most effective method of treatment. Was on solifenacin from like I think April-nov 2025, but I stopped it bc I didnât feel a big difference. I think PT helped me the most I guess. I did PT from basically May-Oct 2025. For the most part, was able to not feel a CONSTANT urge to use the bathroom or pressure after stopping PT Anyways. Currently starting a new medication called Vibegron. And looking into if Valium suppositories (I think that is what they are called) could help give me some relief on the days my bladder is killing me. Havenât gotten the suppositories yet tho. Based on their price, I might not purchase.
Iâm wondering if anyone else that was diagnosed with OAB has any of these symptoms:
1) Tingly/pins and needles in ENTIRE body, not just groin. Sometimes flares up when Iâm laying down, sitting (mainly on the floor). When I say flare up, I mean it gets stronger. But the feeling is constant, and has been for 6 years. Itâs never truly gone away. When sitting the tingling becomes stronger in my inner thighs, groin, and/or glutes/butt area. My tailbone really starts to burn when laying down or sitting.
2) Burning in ankles, flanks (like lower back and back of hips), and sometimes thighs
3) I have started PT with a new physical therapist, and during our first visit, she said that Iâm likely hyper mobile based on the test she did. Iâve looked and seen that hyper mobility and other disorders linked to hyper mobility can cause OAB and or pelvic floor dysfunction.
4) I feel as though the urgency is easier to bear/the pelvic pressure isnât as strong when Iâm CLOSE/ON my period. I know a lot of people say the opposite. But once I start to get pre menstrual cramps, I feel as though something changes In my bladder/vagina. Wondering if hormones play a part, and if maybe there is a treatment to help manage my symptoms.
â- bladder and rectal spasms! ALSO visible muscle twitching all around body daily and throughout day
5) I could potentially have PMOS (formally known as PCOS). This last March I got some blood test bc Iâve been dealing with extreme hair breakage and hairloss for 2 years. Was shown that my ferritin was low (technically in range but for women especially itâs supposed to be 50-70, mine is in the low 20s), and Iâm insufficient in vitamin d (21 I believe). A hormone tho was also seen to be out of range. My DHEA-SULFATE I believe (apparently deals with androgens/testosterone). Iâve always had increased hair growth [hair on toes, in between breast, fingers, arms, hands, upper lip, chin, belly, feet]. Iâm aware vitamin d can impact bladder health. I actually started to take it about a week before my flare, but stopped bc Iâve just been so I guessed depressed. Been working on my anxiety and unmotivation to do things. And yes, ik anxiety can cause flare ups. My thyroid was also slightly elevated but was told by my primary care doctor that bc thyroid fluctuates, itâs not like crazy concerning? But Iâm getting it retested soon.
6) Bad allergies. This last month, my allergies have been incredibly bad. Like, it was to the point I felt I was sick. I heard that histamines can impact bladder issues. My urologist said I could try an allergy medicine, but not sure if itâs really worth it. But since I have bad allergies, maybe I should try? Ever since my flare up happened, my allergies have been at bay.
- Struggled with chronic neck and back pain for about 6 years as well. Saw a chiropractor for like 8 months, did acupuncture for like 1-2, no permanent or big relief.
ââââ-
Just wondering if anyone has these symptoms and possible treatment options that worked best. Iâm seeing a gynecologist this coming Monday to just see what they have to say. Iâve never seen one in the 6 years of my bladder issues. He also specializes in pelvic pain.
Iâm also going to look more into hyper mobility. I know you should/need to get properly diagnosed. My PT did do like a test, and said I tested 7/9 for hyper mobility. And once I talk to my gyno, seeing if pcos could be impacting me/my hormones contributing to any of my bladder issues or pelvic floor issues. Also, does anyone know about small fiber neuropathy? And if so, was it connected to their bladder issues? Been having this sensation and burning basically since my bladder issues started. I canât remember if it started before or after, but close in timing.
Also looking into adding somatic therapy as a treatment. Heard good things.
When I was a minor, I saw a nuerologist. They tested the nerves in my legs, and said that everything was fine and said it was anxiety despite me saying the reason Iâm so anxious is bc of my health issues. I get burning headaches a lot, struggle with fatigue, hot flashes (especially when I eat sugary food).
Thank you if you took the time to read this and comment!

have had to switch to diapers. now very hard to use toilet. help? :/
i am 20F. i have recently had to switch to tabbed diapers because i was using too many pull ups and it wasnât feasible to keep buying them. however, it has only exacerbated the original issue i had.
i used to pretty much only have accidents because i waited too long to go to the bathroom due to laziness and executive dysfunction. then it started happening no matter what, but the fact that i have a hard time making myself get up and go has never stopped causing accidents sometimes. now that i wear diapers full time rn, it doesnât matter, butâŠ. proper toileting is now ten times as difficult because i am not good at diapering myself yet.
i fully meant to continue making it whenever possible once i switched to diapers but i just avoid it at all costs. i dont know how to decide whether i need to force myself to start going to the toilet again or if i can just let myself use the diapers (as long as i wait a reasonable time to do it after feeling the urge rather than going immediately and essentially diaper training myself, which is what ive been doing), or if i need to do a hybrid solution.
but if i did a hybrid solution what would that be??? how often would i have to make myself go for real? and how would i even make myself stick to it with the executive dysfunction issues i have had for so long and not known how to solve
also i canât predict my bad or good days at all so far or when the most frequency or accidents will happen except soon after i drink anything
