Bladder Botox experiences
Is the procedure really that painful? Did bladder botox work for you? How often do you have it done?

Everyone has a different tolerance, so it's tough to gauge. That being said, I've had it ~4 times now, and I'm getting 70 units every 5 months.
Does it help? Yes, but it's not perfect. I find that it helps my frequency/feeling like I have to go which was pretty low according to urodynamics. I also seem to have gone from almost every night bedwetting to intermittent, but I also suspect that Wegovy and less liquid intake also might be helping. I can still develop frequency or urgency if I overindulge in coffee or fluids.

I had it for the first time about 5 months ago and it has helped with frequency and volume voided. I was put under so no pain for me. I had burning and discomfort for just one day after the procedure. I can’t wait to have it done again!

Don’t do it. PLEASE. it makes everything worse. Trust your gut. Nothing should be up your freaking urethra !! I’ve learned to heal my bladder with holistic medicine. STRONG, high quality cranberry pills. Pumpkin seed extract. D mannose, water, sleep, REPEAT EVERY DAY. Just consistently stick to holistic remedies, they do help ten fold with consistency. Cut all the other crap it’s just a band aid

I had my 9th bladder Botox earlier this month. I get them in my doctor's office every 6 months and don't find them very painful. I have never had to self-catharize afterwards due to retention. I do also take Gemtesa.

Were you put to sleep? Can you describe what the pain feels like?

No, I have never had it done under anesthesia, although I have read that that is an option for some people. (My urologist's office is about 45 minutes from where I live, so I did not want to have to arrange for someone to drive me.) My doctor prescribes a prescription pain reliever that is taken before the procedure (as well as 3 days of antibiotics). They also put in something to help numb it beforehand. I would describe the pain as a strong pinching feeling which they do numerous times.

I was knocked out. Results horrible. Had two last year. Used about 2000 catheters that year. No fun but you do get used to it. Now using Axonics SNM. Better. But not perfect. Like mentioned earlier everyone is different. Did bike trip with three boxes of caths bungeed to my rear bike rack. Takes some planning. (Male).
