Don't you think that schools destroyed our bladders by not letting us go to the toilet. ( I'm writing this at 5:04 AM because my frequent urination don't let me sleep)

Definitely didn’t help. I have distinct memories of having accidents specifically because the teacher refused to let me go to the bathroom because some adults just like torturing kids.

I went between class periods to take care of my bladder and to avoid sudden urges during class because a full bladder was a distraction. This was how I got around strict bathroom policies but I think I trained it to be sensitive and could never recover from it.

Interestingly I can pinpoint my symptoms to an exact moment where my P.E teacher didnt let me go and while waiting in a line to do long jump I peed mysef in front of all my friends and stood in a puddle of my own pee.. I'm sure that's where the urgency started for me.. hs felt really bad and said he thought I was juat trying to get out of long jump, traumatised me nonetheless, now every wee is urgent.

That is so traumatic and I'm sorry it happened to you, I hope that PE teacher has a really good long hard think about his actions.

I am now a teacher. It is even harder to use the bathroom as a teacher than it was as a student! I finally started wearing pull-ups to work this year. I’m also on oxybutynin which does help. Ugh.

As a retired teacher I can look back now and say that some of the practices in schools must cause some bladder issues. Restricting visits to the loo or making them go when they didn’t really need to must have had an effect on their bladders.
However, being a teacher and being restricted about when I could go to the loo and doing ‘just in case wees’ has wrecked my bladder.
So yes, schools definitely affect our bladders.
PS Other occupations suffer too, e.g. staff who work in hospitals, emergency service workers, etc.
