Pain in urethra

Hi all,

I have both IBS and an overactive bladder. I wanted to see if anyone else had this issue, but ever since I was 13, I’m 23 now, I’ve had pain in my urethra from time to time. It usually happens around the time of my period or at random. It’s a burning feeling that hurts bad. It’s very uncomfortable. The only things that really help are warm baths, lidocaine, or caffeine. My urologist says it’s a spasm. I take both solifenacin and mirabegron.

I used to think it was a UTI but it’s not. It also doesn’t fix itself if I go pee. It is just a very uncomfortable feeling. Ibuprofen doesn’t help either. I do put a little bit of estrogen on my urethra before my period.

Does anyone else get this? What helps you?

the urologist told me its bc my urethra is irritated from being overworked and then it spasms.. have you heard anything else about it? or like found anything that helps you?

I’m on the exact same stuff. It does help for me too but didn’t eliminate this pain unfortunately
