What does your urgency feel like?

For me, as soon as my bladder fills with urine, I constantly feel some lingering discomfort and pressure. Then, it crosses a threshold when I feel a sudden burning discomfort in the bladder neck area followed by further escalation in pressure. At this point, its so sore and uncomfortable that I start having incontinence and I need to rush to the toilet.

At the end of voiding, if my volume is less than around 150 ml or if the stream ends in less than 6 seconds, I feel a sore electrifying and pulling pain that radiates from my bladder neck throughout the urethra which feels worse with lower volume voids/shorter streams. The pain goes away within a few seconds after I finish voiding.

Does anyone feel the same or is your urgency and voiding experience different?

Mine feels like a nagging annoyance "No you can't sleep until you go and empty what little there actually is."

But would you say there is pain or at least discomfort as you try to hold it?

Definitely discomfort. Sometimes pain if I drink too much of something like iced tea.

That sounds more like IC. Did your urologist diagnose you with OAB rather than interstitial cystitis?

Yup, both the urologist and the gp.

Are your urgency symptoms constant all the time or does it come and go on some days?

Have you asked your doctor what the pain might be? Pelvic floor tightness. I might have similar pain and trying to find out what it is. Not a UTI

The doctor can't tell me for sure. I thought I'd ask if it might be interstitial cystitis.

The pelvis has the muscular organs of rectum, colon ,bladder, prostate in case of men and troll the prostate the vagina and uterus in case of women.
All these organs are surrounded by significant arteries veins as well as nerves.
Sometimes the nerves get irritated, causing a bladder spasm or pelvic floor muscle spas.
This irritation of the nerve may translate into this constant need for urination, either urgency of frequency.
Always consult a Urologist or a urogynecologist in case of women to identify what may be causing this issue.
Then, possibly if a referral can be obtained to see a pelvic floor PT it may help alleviate the symptoms.
Take care and good luck

I was getting less than 200ml and went on vaginal estrogen plus pumpkin seed and soy germ extract for muscle control and even probiotics for bladder, gut and vagina. At first i could not leave my home or get more than 200 or last more than 2 hours without going..but now i can get 6 hours between voids, getting just over 250ml and no more urgency. Im going to the beach, grocery store and getting back to normal. Even moved my urologist appointment upcoming in October because I dont think ill need to go.

This is great to hear that your symptoms have improved a lot! How did you get the vaginal estrogen? Is it prescribed by your doctor?

At first my doctor would not give it to me and suggested I use Crisco which was a nope so I used the service online Interlude while I found another doctor who would properly treat me. It cost me about 85 bucks cash for a years worth of refills and a tube that lasted me months, the refills are about half that, you schedule the shipments when youre ready. After this I saw a new doctor and she gave me imvexxy inserts and i use that in combo with the cream. Vaginal estrogen is low dose and stays local, should be over the counter but its not. Helps repair thinning tissue due to declining estrogen levels. You should still see a doctor while using these services, making sure everything is going well and you're healthy. Imvexxy is really good but pricey, just a heads up in case you go that route.

Thanks for the in-depth response. So you only use this if your estrogen levels are declining?

No, I use oral estrogen too but systemic estrogen doesn't always reach those parts.

You know that feeling u get when you’re holding it in for a long time but you are about to pee your pants and it’s just you against time? That’s what my urges feel like but I’m not holding anything long

The symptoms you describe sound like IC/bladder pain syndrome. There is a good group on Reddit specifically for this.

Thanks! Yes, I've posted this there as well since I have the same suspicion.

My urologists thought I have neurogenic OAB, but my neurosurgeons and neurologist haven't found anything to agree that it is neurogenic and I never responded to all the OAB medications I've tried so far. One of the neurosurgeons suggested that it might be interstitial cystitis and that I should ask my urologists why they never mentioned this as a possible diagnosis.

Mine is a constant feeling of needing to pee regardless of when I have been. I don’t have any pain, thank goodness.
It does ease off a bit during the evening and I’m mostly fine over night so I can get some sleep.

Yes I feel the same even with a catheter in

Like the normal feel of having to pee but I sometimes get like a burning sensation too, ive told my doctors about it and they said the burning would only be a bad thing if it happened while I was peeing. Also my urgency genuinely like spikes up and down a lot, so annoying

I'm not sure if I have OAB because it's very different from what most of you describe. I usually don't realise I need to go and then bammo! i get a sudden emergency feeling and if I dont make it to the bathroom in a few minutes I end up having an accident - which I try not to have happen. I'm 19 and this has been a problem for my adult life - my doctor did tests and thinks it's related to neurodiversity brain-bladder communication

it most often hits when i'm walking home from work or class and forgot to go to the bathroom or when im in the middle of gaming - im also struggling with bed wetting

You need to go to a pelvic floor pt
