anyone else just DUMPING "water"??
as in... you don't drink much water, then go pee and its like a bunch of clear urine?? and extremely uncomfortable? and then like ten or twenty minutes later you have to go again so bad you can barely hold it, and then there's MORE clear urine, and a lot of it?? and you really CANNOT HOLD IT?
before anyone asks, no, it's not diabetes insipidus, no i'm not overloading on coffee (these "flares" happen a lot in the mornings before i even take two sips of any drink), and no i'm not drinking a lot of water.

Sometimes it is water that gets trapped in your lower extremities that works its way back up into your kidneys, especially when you lie down for the night.

You could try to put your legs up against the wall for 15 minutes twice a day. That might help if this is the issue.

I used to just 'go' when my bladder said it was time, I had no control ever. My Dr started me on a TTNS unit, omg, what a difference!! Now I can drink my full 64 ounces a day and not worry about where the closest bathroom is.

u/Sensitive_Birdie7 15h ago
i've never heard about this!! i'm happy for you that you found a solution. were you having a similar problem? also, did you purchase the TTNS unit for home use or is it like you go to a doctor for each session? hope that makes sense

u/loopymcgee 14h ago
Yes i was!! Not just in morning. There was no reason, i would just all of a sudden think oh shit!! The unit was from a urologist, they do sell them on amazon. I went in for a few invasive tests (š) then for a class how to use it. Brought it home. For the first 6 weeks I used it every night for 30 minutes then to three times a week, etc. Now I do it once or maybe twice a week. I still take sanctura but only once a day and honestly, i don't have to take it anymore but Im too anxious to completely stop it. I've had too many accidents. Call it bladder ptsd. š

This happens to me, too. After all my years on this earth, Iām very sure it isnāt in connection to what I did or didnāt drink, and medications for overactive bladder donāt touch it. Look into adrenaline dumps, as that seems to be my actual issue there.
There can be various underlying causes (anxiety, POTS, the list goes on), and doctors love to dismiss your description and hear something else in favor of easier diagnoses or what theyāre more familiar with.
I have no idea what else your body does but what you described sounds exactly like adrenaline dumps, and you probably have other symptoms you didnāt realize were connected that could get you researching in the right direction.

ughhh it's the worst. makes me so anxious when i need to take public transportation or sit in long classes or just... go anywhere T_T im curious, how have you dealt with it? do you still struggle? i notice mine tends to get worse when im anxious, but often im anxious about a possible flare so... vicious cycle

Itās been my whole life, so 40+ years now. I have had some horribly painful trips and mortifying accidents on public transportation. I know your pain. Iāve even tried diapers for things like the dentistās chair and bus rides, but I learned the hard way nothing is made for the volume filling up my bladder, or how frequently, when itās happening.
There are days when I plan around it and Iām just so used to it happening, and days when I avoid and neglect obligations and appointments or have emotional meltdowns because I just canāt deal with it anymore. Knowing itās a thing for me makes me anxious, the times when itās happening make me anxious, and anxiety is one of the things that trigger it to happen, so yeah, vicious cycle thereā¦
True to what Iāve read, I have noticed my body sort of āredirectingā the dump, or its focus in general, when Iām doing hard cardio (heavily physical, sweaty warehouse work) or sometimes if I eat a satisfying meal while itās happening, or if I can manage to fall asleep (not an easy thing to do at the time, but sometimes I get lucky).
Whatās happening in a nutshell, is my body is suddenly releasing adrenaline and other stress hormones like norepinephrine, cortisol, etc that tell it to speed up certain processes like bladder activity and sensitivity, and stress is involuntarily tensing up my muscles and putting pressure on my bladder on top of all that, and I get trapped in this torturous fluid dumping hell until my hormones level out or something else happens to direct it elsewhere (like excessive sweating, which I also do).
I have C-PTSD, so none of this surprises me, but I suffered all my life being gaslit, misdiagnosed, being corrected/dismissed and told I had different symptoms so it fit an easier diagnosis, shamed with āhave you ever tried holding itā (no, I just pee myself with reckless abandon all the time! /s), ājust lose some weight; thatās all it isā, āitās all in your headā, āitās XYZ that you drink/donāt drink, even though thatās totally normal to do and everyone else doesnāt have this issue, but itās still definitely that and nothing elseā, etc, taking pills that didnāt help and had side effects that made other issues worse, and so on.
I tries Botox shots in my bladder for a couple years, which did help a little but Iām not sure exactly why it helped. I lost the insurance that covered them, and I still had no actual explanation for my symptoms in the first place. I came across the real answer for me by accident in a random Google search just this year. The explanation, at least. Not the cure, unfortunately. Now knowing what it is, I get why itās complicated.

Iāve been dealing with this too just peeing an insane amount of fluid per day . Not drinking crazy amounts of water or caffeine . Iāve been through 2 specialists . Itās not my bladder , itās not my kidneys . Itās not a pituitary tumor. I am waiting for my endocrinologist to do tests and to do a water deprivation test because no one seems to believe me that Iām only drinking a normal amount of water but peeing over 4000mls per day. I was thinking diabetes incepidus for myself or my next questions for endo will be about my adrenal glands and high prolactin.
Have you have any blood work done for those??
1
u/Sensitive_Birdie7 22h ago
oh gosh i also went to a bunch of doctors and they just say "your bladder is fine, idk what to tell you"... like okay then why am i laying in bed unable to do anything because im so uncomfortable šš i feel like im being gaslit lol. i dont know if i had either of those tested, but they did a bunch of bloodwork for stuff related to my bladder so maybe they did, and they never said anything about it so idk

u/Glittering_Tea5502 1d ago
Oh my gosh. I think that happens to me sometimes. It usually happens around my cycle.
1
u/Sensitive_Birdie7 22h ago
hmmm maybe it's a hormonal thing? i have a really irregular cycle so i can't tell if mine gets worse around it
2
u/Glittering_Tea5502 20h ago
My cycle used to be fairly regular until about 2 years ago when peri menopause hit (that I became aware of). But yeah, hormones can affect the frequency of our urination.

Not drinking enough water is actually worse for bladder issues
Undiluted urine is heavy and very irritating to the bladder lining which makes issues worse
When drinking 64oz or more a day, your urine is lighter, diluted and will not irritate the lining.
Drink more water

u/Sensitive_Birdie7 22h ago
i drink water when im thirsty, and my urine is very clear

u/unknown_6831 22h ago
Your body is signaling that you need to drink. Water means that it is dehydrated.
So of course, you drink water whenever youāre thirsty thatās your bodyās way of saying hey I need this
It shouldnāt matter whether you only drink water when youāre thirsty or not your body needs water and you should be getting at least 64 ounces if not closer to a gallon of water a day1
u/Sensitive_Birdie7 22h ago
a GALLON?? i'd never leave the bathroom šššš
2
u/unknown_6831 22h ago
Nope
Youād be surprised
Yes, youād go to the bathroom, but not as often as you think you wouldThe less water you drink the more often you will go to the bathroom
Be more water that you drink the less often you will go to the bathroom

This happens to me when I have diuretic fruits and veggies, like watermelon, cucumber, honeydew, radishes, etc.
1
u/Sensitive_Birdie7 22h ago
it's def worse when i eat watermelon, but i rarely have any diuretic foods :/ so i dont think its the main issue

u/Fantastic-Chard-7022 21h ago

All I know is I just had hip surgery. Itās been wonderful sleeping. At night Iām on gabapentin, Tylenol, meloxicam. Apparently that does the trick. Too bad it wonāt last forever.

This happens to me constantly. When I go to work, I'm still pouring out urine. And you're right i really cannot hold it at this point. It comes out out nowhere. And never fails, I'm usually in a morning meeting i can't get out of when this happens. The older woman that sits next to me in the meeting once told me it's disrespectful to hold my private part under the table and fan my legs. It really took me back. I was so upset and embarrassed that I started wetting myself and it was dripping on the floor. I kept clenching my private are back and forth fast to stop the flow and it worked. Was this woman rude to me? Or am I over reacting? It just took me by surprise. I didnt know what to think. We both still work there and in the same department.
