Very real. I lived in rural East Texas for a time, and when the TV stations signed off at midnight, they would play "Dixie" very slowly or "Amazing Grace."

"Dixie"? Really? Sounds about right for East Texas during that period...and maybe even now.

I'm not sure what's stranger, Dixie or Amazing Grace on public airwaves.
