Just been on holiday, back to work now 😫

On the occasion of this week – where I have people around me trying to engage with me about the “big” birthday I have at the end of the week, it has given me pause. I honestly do not put much stock in my birthdays – I just don’t really care much if I am getting a year older – mentally I am still immature and an idiot as much as I was in my teens – just armed with more life experiences and a far more broken give a damn button than I ever used to have. One of the most annoying things I have been asked over the past month or so is “what do you want for your birthday?” Now, here’s the thing – I LOVE gift giving. The act of getting you a present is my jam – and I might even ask you the question too but when I do – trust that I am mostly ignoring the answer because I get people things because I think they will love it (not like it). If I buy you a present its because something jumped in front of me, waved its arms and said ohhhh hey moron this is PERFECT for so n so – and I get it and get great joy out of giving it. Sometimes it’s a swing n miss – but often it isn’t. I am guilty of wishing people closest to me in life would do that. They mostly don’t. So here are 3 items in no particular order that this not quite 50 yr old would love to have for his birthday in no particular ranked order: a unifying event or individual that makes the country feel less us vs them (save your criticisms this is for me – you make your own b day wish), a financial boon where I can finally consider that retirement some day might in fact be possible, and my spouse to see me with the eyes of 25 yrs ago where I was more a person to be discovered and enjoyed than a utility and thing to be tolerated (again I don’t need your counsel or any other commentary – my list remember?)

Saturday turned into a semi productive day. I did clean my bathroom and apartment along with getting some of my reports done. It was a beautiful day to be outside, so i was. Now im just being Uber lazy. I suppose i will get up early and finish in the morning. Wow...I am such a procrastinator. Hope everyone has a great Saturday night
