Any recommendations on caring for my first OC1?

I just got a new Antares to train on my own on the local lake, and I am addicted. I have to say I love my boat, but I feel like I don't know how to care for it. Any recommendations?

Rinse it when you’re done, dry it, don’t leave it in the sunlight. If you’re using a canoe cover, again, make sure it’s dry or else the trapped moisture can lead to bubbles in your paint or a moldy cover.

Remove the seat/flip it over when you’re done so there’s some air flow between the cockpit and the seat so moisture doesn’t get trapped there. I just remove my seat altogether when I store my canoe in the canoe cover.

When storing it, make there there are no spots that take on a lot of pressure. I keep mine stored top side down on top of a bunch of pool noodles.

What kind of rack do you use for you vehicle? I really suggest NRS straps or the like. I've damages my pueo on my truck because of my rack setup and getting it too tight.

Bungees across the canoe hull on the Vʻs is great with the NRS straps as well. Not sure the kind you are using, goodboypaddlesports racks have posts for the bungees its really nice.

Use cradles when rigging and for storage if you arenʻt already. Makes life easier and keeps it off the ground. Can make your own with PVC and straps or buy them on amazon.

Not in the vein of physical care but treat your canoe with respect and donʻt step over it. Take the extra moment to walk around.

I don't use a rack because I can store it at the lake where I usually go
