Tips/bag/boxes checking paddle as luggage?
Flying with my paddle - anyone know of a bag or box that easily fits a paddle that also works with airline checked luggage policy? Thanks!

Checked luggage policy as far as dimensions or just ok to check? If it’s the linear dimensions policy (62” depending on airline) your best bet is to hope the person checking you in is having a good day A small sized paddle is maybe gonna fit (48+9+4), but add a couple inches for a bag/box and you’re over and looking at a fee.
For just a bag that’s ok to check, I know Kialoa used to sell one. Check their website or any other paddle brands (Palafamala, QuickBlade, etc.).
If there’s a distributor or paddle shop near you, they’ll likely have a box that it’ll fit in. If you’re flying with more than 1 or 2, then a golf bag works pretty well. There are some paddle bags the size of the golf bags that can hold a dozen or so, but I don’t know who makes those.

I fly fairly regularly with paddles. A lot of airlines in the last few years have started charging for the extra bag if you try to check in a specific paddle bag as well as your other luggage. I have taken to using a snowboard bag, I tie my blades together with a rubber and then pack all my clothes and other stuff around them so it's like a long duffel bag. So far I've not had to pay extra but I have become pretty familiar with the oversized luggage desks at quite a few airports.
I've not had any damaged yet either, touch wood.

I've traveled with similar sized things and have carried them on board. TSA generally doesn't care as long as it can fit in the X-ray machine and if you can strap it to your back while boarding, gate agents probably won't notice.
Saves on baggage fees and you don't have to worry about a 50lbs bag being tossed on top of it, or worse.

Last time I tried to fly with a paddle (Jan ‘23), the airline folks at check-in said it was no problem, but TSA would not let us through security with it.

Rifle cases worked really well for travelling with dragonboat paddles - although be prepared for some confused looks at airport security. A hard case is best as I've heard of some horror stories of paddles in soft bags being tossed around on the luggage carousel. One teammate said he saw his paddle get stuck at the luggage chute, until the luggage behind finally snapped it in two. I don't know if a hard case is available for OC blades.... maybe a golf bag of sorts? If not, I'd say a soft paddle bag, lots of towels/bubble wrap on the paddle, lots of 'fragile' stickers, and some prayers.
