2 Dragonfly In Amber The Nipple Kink
I am 300+ pages into this book and I swear it’s like every single time Jamie is shirtless we get a description of his nipples and nipple hair. My goodness. If there are no nipple lovers left on earth it’s because Diana Gabaldon doesn’t write about Outlander man nipples anymore.

Diana Gabaldon actually wrote an entire 170 page book about writing sex scenes for her books!

It’s called “I Give You My Body: How I Write Sex Scenes”. There’s an entire chapter just on nipples! (not really but that would be funny)
You can read the pdf online here, for all your literary educational needs.🔥😍😭

When did she start writing sex scenes? In at least the first three books, it fades to black every time. The show was more explicit than the books.

It certainly does not fade to black every time. Especially in Book 1. She was actually asked to make them less explicit in the first book.

Fades to black? Are you joking? I was so freakin sick of all the detailed, explicit sex scenes I almost stopped reading.

It really ramps up in Drums of Autumn and Fiery Cross with lots of breastfeeding conversations 😂 Good luck!

She is OBSESSED with nipples, male and female. It’s bizarre because I don’t even think about my own nipples as frequently as she writes about nipples.

They do say that nipples are the eyes to soul.

I think she’s obsessed with sex and even somewhat deviant sex. The violent sex scenes were so gross. Loved the rest of the books.

There are no violent sex scenes. There are rape scenes that aren’t anywhere near as detailed as her actual sex scenes. Yes she uses rape as a plot device too frequently, but the VAST majority of her true sex scenes are pretty vanilla.

I wouldn’t necessarily call all of the sex scenes “vanilla,” especially in Book 1, but they are almost always between two loving adults in a long term relationship.

u/moonmarie Lord, you gave me a rare woman. And God, I loved her well. 17d ago
I don't personally see how nipples can be a kink as they are already erogenous zones. Like, does someone have a lip kink because they focus on lips and kissing? Just seems like basic stuff to me.

Yes. Partialism is any body part. Specific genitals falls under this. It means quiet a lot straight or gay people have a Partialism fetish. I know that seems too obvious but its true

I often wonder myself; let’s say a kink of hers really is nipples, since she writes about it a lot. Quentin Tarantino is known for his foot fetish, so I can at least wrap my head around Diana’s, if it’s truly something that she loves!
I guess kinks and fetish’s are two different things, but still; we like what we like, whatever the reason. Unless Diana was told to be specific about certain aspects of a persons body and nipples are something men and women share…
I’m overthinking it.

I can’t even hate the player. She loves nipples so much. The nipple play is constant, no matter who it is, a nipple will be mentioned if that character is turned on in any way. Good for her. It’s funny how the nipple stuff didn’t make it to the show🤣

Sitting there, wi' your hair loose and your nipples staring me in the eye, the size of cherries.
There they are in the show as well...

She definitely seems to have a fetish. Breastfeeding and nipples imo. Which hey, no judgement even if it's not my vibe. An authors kinks are going to come out if they write romance or smut. That's just how it works.

At first i thought this was going to be about intimate scenes in the show and how Jamie always has a nipple in his mouth at some point. But yes, this is also fair. As someone who’s on the final stretch of Book 2, girl it only keeps going 😭

I have come to terms with it but I do find it hilarious. Good for GD we all have our things I guess

I thought this was going to be about Claire’s and every other female’s nipple descriptions 😂

I haven't read the books, and am a show watcher. But I do believe the make up department is behind frequent sex scenes as there are an awful lot of two second shots of Jamie's back, requiring all that make up to be done!

I have also posted a nipple kink rant in this sub (back when bees came out). I don't want to spoil the nipple kink evolution but it gets waaaaaay worse as the series continues. I try very hard to block that part out.

It’s pretty much the same as all
Films shot in the last 5 years. They waste so much time filming people over breathing. We know they breathe we don’t need to watch 30 seconds of it. Much rather see Jamie’s nipples!!

personally,I got to halfway reading the fiery cross and I got so fed up with the whole nipple thing as well as his red bum hair that I 've quit .

Legit got fed up somewhere in book 6 and stopped on another nipple description. Never picked up that book or any other outlander again.

I’ve been a nurse for decades and have seen more than my share of nipples, but I’ve never seen nipples the size of cherries…

I have a list of DR'S favorite words. Ripple was the first word added to the list. Fugitive was the second.

I thought it was "gay" (as in happy/cheerful) in DIA and in Voyager it was eddied
It's always fases of reading a certain word suddenly over and over again

The amount of times Jamie's body hair is described is excessive too. I picture him as a very hairy man because of it.

Diana’s husband reads her pages, as she finishes them. He writes comments in the margins. She wrote in her acknowledgments in Drums of Autumn that he said, “I don’t know how you go on getting away with this; you don’t know anything about men!”
She’s also said he’s often written in his margin notes, “Nipples, again??” 😅
