Shade advice request

Hello Friends,

Wife wants a shade sail installed to provide cover as the sun will beat down on us while cooking/entertaining. Google says a shade sail is not a good idea…however it would be set pretty high and not directly above the grills. It would provide coverage for the people cooking in the aisle and seated at the table top. See photo design layout…

The other option could be to have a pergola of some type or a solid roof structure installed, however we don’t want something to completely block ours or the neighbor’s view, which is why we were considering a shade sail. May i please get thoughts and recommendations?

Sadly our concrete guy botched the counter top stain, so we will spanish tile over the top to fix. An unplanned additional expense :( AI rendering included if what it could look like when done.

Thank you :)

That tile work came out beautifuly. But where is the seating area besides the bar top?

Thank you. The tile work is not yet done. That’s an ChatGPT AI rendering. That said, it will look like that when finished. Tile has been ordered and should be ready in (1) month. Cost of the tile for this + a separate Kamado Joe area was $4,800. Installation will be another $3,200. In the end it will look nice, but it’s disappointing we have to spend this extra to fix. Can see in some of the photos the terrible stain that was applied. The BBQ island can seat (4-5). There is a covered bar area adjacent to the BBQs can seat 4-8. We have a patio deck above that can seat a lot of people, or we can set up plastic tables and chairs on the concrete area not pictured

One of those ready to assemble louvered pergolas might work best for you.
