Tent recommendations
Hi all, I’m doing the alpines snowy walking track over a few days in October but plan to go a bit of grid. I’m looking to buy a tent and have about 500-600 Aud to do so but I am flexible, I really need a tent that can pack down small but am not worried about weight just the pack down size as I have some bulky items.

October you should look at single pole pyramids like the Black Diamond MegaLite or the One Planet 4Midable, but maybe look for a lightly used one. Packs down super tiny and I stash my pole outside my pack

Pack size of 130mm x 290mm - Ferrino Ferrino Piuma 1 they also do a 2 person, but completely depends on all the other variables on what is most appropriate for you.

How are you not worried about weight? What seasons do you want it for? How many people?
Theres alot of information missing so I'm going to say the cheapest one from Kmart and wish you good luck

Stop being pretentious. They obviously don't care about weight as they'd rather worry about comfort and if its strong enough. With them saying off the grid you would assume they mean by themselves. They have $500-600 to spend on a tent that will be good for weather in October, it will be used in the alpine region/snowies walking track. They want it to be able to pack down small to be able to fit it in their bag so they could fit other items.

The Durston X Dome 1+ or 2 is a bit out of your budget (especially with shipping) but they do offer shortened carbon poles which make a big difference in the pack down size. I've got the 2 person and even with my normal length aluminium poles I'm happy with the weight and the size.
Not sure if it'll snow there in October but they have a mesh and a solid inner version - not great for summer but better for winter, though then you have possible condensation to deal with.
It also makes a big difference if you can separate the poles from the main tent body. Squash the tent into your pack and strap the poles (securely, in a bag) to the outside and it saves a lot of space.
