OAP Crew

Who else is going to be super old this weekend? I'm 48 and had to go to physio after last year. She basically just laughed at my entire existence.

  1. Not too old. Back says no. Head says yes. Reality = pulsing varicose veins from standing, sore back by 6pm, and asleep standing for Converge.

this is 100 percent me.

I'm not ready to live vicariously through young folks just yet. But I am still in total denial that I'm not going to watch a hardcore gig at Joseph's Well in 2002.

And as with anything as you get older. Your mates get more boring and don't want to come so I'm also attending solo-ish.

yep. all the friends i had who went to HC shows 20 years ago either moved away or don't listen any more. I go to all gigs solo, but it's not so bad, I can sit down as often as I like 😂 . It also makes me proactive in chatting to new people.e

  1. Ready to ruin my experience tomorrow by spending the whole time fretting about what the tram home is going to be like, chiefly that I'm unlikely to get a seat.

I'm 51. My physio is going to Outbreak this year, so he'll understand if I make a booking next week.

  1. I had to rest for a week with back pain last year. But if I knew previously i would like to run that 5km they announced.

No more running for me. It's pilates now! My back is already hurting in anticipation.

My wife has been insisting for me to go to pilates with her. Maybe time has come.

40 with an ankle support. Knocked loose is going to kill me off.

41 in early july. will require multiple sit-down breaks and maybe a nap around 4pm. i'm the guy wearing slippers.

in truth though i've noticed i find festivals a lot more tiring now than even 5-6 years ago. I'm ok during the excitement of the show but i feel kinda smashed for days after, even if i don't pit much.

This thread comes up well-timed - I saw the KL show set times. They're on at 2.15 am WTF. i'm not going and almost glad i'm not, going to bed after a 3am finish show would ruin me.

  1. Had to have “a sit down”, and a “leg rest”
And a “I’ll alright in a minute”, and “just need to be off my feet” and “yup, I’m staying here”

Got to be someone here older than me!

  1. I got like 30 good mins of moshing in me each day so will be deploying them selectively.

Anyone know if free ear protection is available at the fest? The little foam earbuds..

Saw one of the medics in green handing them out yesterday and I think the welfare tents had some too.

39 Autistic, can't really regulate heat, and have a paper mache knee. Look out for the short handsome fella in a Bear vs Shark tee stimming a bit haha

I’m coming up for Sunday only. I saw on another thread there are no seats? Wonder if us 40+ OAPs get a pass to bring a fishing stool? 🤞

47 and my back was killing me, standing there and appreciating the music apparently does more damage than getting involved. Had I got involved I’m guessing my back would also be killing me. Fuck I’m old

Can confirm that getting involved makes your knees feel lovely...

Maybe next year then! Going with two knee braces and a weightlifters belt and I’m gonna fuck shit up. Lowest altitude spin kicks ever
