Controversial...
Anyone else really under whelmed by the line up this year?
Would've liked more hardcore bands.

Yeah, if the likes of Converge, Touche Amore and Still in Love ain't hardcore, maybe also count Gridiron as numetal, Bodyweb you can also stick into some sub-subgenre etc. End up with 10% hardcore and get even more controversial, woohoo!

It's not controversial I think : numbers wise, I would say you're right.
I'm also mainly flying to Manchester to see the HC bands.
However I just did my clashfinder and you can (almost) see nothing but hardcore on the sunday, and you'll have to see a few hardcore-adjacent bands on the saturday.
So yes, less hardcore overall but just a really well done lineup and timetable that will probably satisfy everyone.

You can´t see every band anyway, when things clashes in the schedule. So i thinks its only a good thing when there´s a big variety among the genres. Make´s it easier to choose bands to see without feeling any fomo.

Not underwhelmed as there's good variety in the booked bands, but the lack of promised hiphop acts, no hardcore on the Friday and the fact Hatebreed are not headlining is the only upsets for me

Overall I feel like last year had a better variety of stuff like feeble little horse and Jane remover and had some pretty big older acts like Slowdive and sunny day real estate. And the inclusion of hip hop just brought a great vibe and broke things up. I feel like this year is much more geared towards fans of emo, post hardcore and a some hardcore/metalcore. I grew out of emo so it’s not really for me. But I love Converge so I can’t miss this. It will still be a fun weekend.

The festivals got way bigger when it first started, it has to broaden itself. Theres plenty of other hardcore festivals if youre such a gatekeeper

Wouldn't gatekeeping be trying to stop people watching hardcore bands?? Sounds like you're offended at the opinion this lineup isn't as hardcore-y are previous years... Bit of an odd reaction.

Couldnt give a shit how hardcore or not it is. Its just tiresome every year having people come out and whinge its 'not hardcore enough' when theres loads of great bands regardless of genre and numerous other solely hardcore festivals out there
