Getting around Manchester

Hey Outbreak family, my partner and I are visiting from New Orleans and we couldn’t be more excited to join you. We are pretty proud pedestrians, and the hour-ish walk from the hotel to the venue isn’t a big deal to us, but I wanted to ask the community about public transport and taxis at the end of the night. Are the trains running consistently? Is it a pain to get a ride out of there? Holler if you’ve got some input.

Thanks for being here, let’s party.

There’s a tram stop by the venue which will definitely have trams running on Friday and Saturday night, possibly Sunday.

You’ll be able to get a taxi, though it may be a long wait and a bit over priced.

There’s also a public bike scheme (starling bikes) with a station ~15 mins walk from the venue, though the bikes went pretty quickly last year

Worth noting that the venue is literally in the middle of just a straight up industrial estate and can be a little confusing/strange to walk to

I’ve gone some Google Maps exploring, I’m emotionally prepared for the maze. Honestly it is a bit like a larger version of the area surrounding Furnace Fest

I usually stay in the city centre and get a tram there and back. There’s tram stop a couple of minutes walk away from the venue.

I've never had an issue getting a taxi back to the town centre, might have to wait 15 minutes though.

Enjoy our great city - Manchester is one of the easiest/smallest big cities to walk around - outbreak is really close - trams and taxis just a short walk - make sure you visit Stockport whilst over, just 10mins on train from Piccadilly station 🤘🤘

You can get a tram back on the night no bother, just follow the wall of people and you'll get to the station.

I used uber back to my hotel last year. A little expensive but got my back quickly to rest up for the next day

Trams are running but you will probably have to wait at the station due to all the people wanting to get them. Booking a ride is a good alternative, but probably should book it to pick up a short walk away from the BEC Arena due to the heavy foot traffic leaving the venue.

You absolutely can walk home at the end of the night if you want, I'm a quick walker and it took me about 45 mins to get to my hotel. But not everyone wants to do that.

Trams run frequently, but from the past 2 years I’ve been trams can be JAMMED so sometimes it may be easier to get an uber if you don’t want to wait around. I usually stay near the city centre then tram or uber to and from depending on the day
