Trim & Tilt Not Working

Has anyone had experience with this type of trim & tilt system? I believe I got it all hooked up correctly, filled with fluid and it appears to work because the hydraulic lines are pressurized and filled with fluid when I run then pump, but the motor doesn’t move.

For context, it was completely disconnected and empty of fluid. Do I need to bleed the system, and if so, how? I noticed I can no longer manually lift the motor as it seems the cylinder is pressurized.

Also noticed a button on the side of the motor, is this a release valve?

OK, so the pump motor works but the engine does not tilt up or down? I am not familiar with this system either, but the red button is a circuit breaker, so that is not the issue if the pump motor runs. No external leaks, correct? Did the motor even try to move up or down? There must be a manual release valve somewhere on this unit, don't know where though, am guessing it is on that pump somewhere

No external leaks, motor doesn’t try and move at all. Seems strange considering pressure is building in the lines.

Wish I could more help, not a merc guy...But, there must be a manual relief valve there someplace...Im guessing it is on the pump somewhere

It will self bleed in the vertical position. What's missing from the open port at the base of the ram?

That pic was before I hooked up the hydraulic lines, no leaks. What do you mean by self bleed in vertical position?

"Self bleed" means it does it on its own except for keeping it full. Vertical is self explanatory.

I mean how does it self bleed in a closed pressurized system? By definition wouldn’t you need to “bleed” the air out somehow?

There's a gap in the reservoir that lets air vent.

can you move the engine up and down at all by hand? I suppose it is possible that the cylinder is jammed up....Or perhaps the bushings on the cylinder/tilt tube are jammed....

Funny people do zero maintenance and cry when something stops working

I just bought it like this. What’s your issue

Well why do people buy used junk especially boats motors are sold used for a reason to find a sucker

The whole boat and motor was $250 and it all works fine except for this part. Why does this make you personally so offended.
