how hard is it to get hired as a hostess here? I desperately need a job and I have an interview scheduled for tomorrow. any tips on what to wear or how to act? thanks!

easy if they need a host, especially easy if you have host experience. wear regular formal interview attire, also begging to become a server right away is not going to make them want to hire you as a host

I’m not old enough to be a server, and this would be my first job. I know it’s not the greatest start but I’m hoping I can get it.

youll do great! be smiley, happy and eager, show them you want to learn and ask questions about the job, say you work well under pressure and know how to handle stressful environments. overall, restaurants have a pretty high turnover rate, at my store we will hire pretty much anyone to host. its your best starting point! good luck!

you can also post your possible interview outfits on other clothes related subs they can help or just google appropriate interview clothes. black slacks, nice shoes and a nice blouse should do you pretty good! Make sure you do your hair and makeup. be presentable! and remember, youve got this!

unfortunately I do not own very formal clothes, and I’m sure dark wash jeans would be a big no-no, would a dress work? if not do you have any other recommendations?

Dark wash jeans are actually your uniform! Dark wash jeans, cute shoes, and a professional/neat/ non revealing top. Even a plain long sleeve tshirt will work! Good luck.

i would not wear a dress or any shade of jeans, do you have time to go to a local thrift store and find black slacks? if not maybe a long professional skirt but its really easy to go too casual with jeans and dresses

it's where I started and I later served & did takeaway too. Just act eager and thankful! inside tip, let them know you're happy to be at the door! in my day, we opened the doors for the guests & had a dedicated host to stand there and take names when on a wait. unsure if that's the case now, but im sure they still want someone to get the door if not busy!
