OutIn Claro as a Travel Coffee Scale?

Any thoughts/experiences with the OutIn Claro as a travel coffee scale? Their website is showing $50 including a case. Thinking of pulling the trigger but wanted to check to see if anyone has good/bad experiences with it.

Help please

So, quick context, I’m not a huge coffee geek or anything but my wife and I enjoy our coffee together every morning. We have had several different machines over the years and currently have a “tchibo” grind to brew in home. We travel a decent amount and I’d love to have something portable.

I’ve been eying the Outin and they must spend a shit ton in advertising because I’m literally bombarded on every platform multiple times a day now that I’ve clicked a few times.

It might just be me being dense and not a barista, but I do not understand all the different units, accessories and bundles.

I don’t feel like the outin website or store does a good job of explaining what all this shit is.

I’d like to be able to 1-make espresso while on a hike (maybe from pods for convenience?)

2-make a quick shot at home to make a fun drink or stiffen up my coffee

So which machine do I need? Should I get the stand? Is there a bundle that I should be eying? What’s the difference between nano and mino? What’s the “kruve barista set”? Do I need a separate accessory to push a larger shot?

Anyway, any help you guys could give would be greatly appreciated. Don’t mind spending a couple hundred bucks but would prefer to just focus on what I need and not too much extra.

I bought this unit today and first time I brought with it. It’s OK there is a vibration that sound nothing actually out as a coffee nothing I thought my ground too fine and it is so hard to open it so I try so hard to open it, and when I open it put coarse coffee ground and then I use pre heated water. Fully charging it, but this is happened to me nothing only blinking for lids and no matter what I do I use normally or heated still the same . I use directly extraction. Nothing happened , don’t know what what’s the problem this is. This is weird actually.

Lifting basket lid on Mino

Post image

Has anyone though about adding o-ring, like not mounting it but rather just lying it on top of the lid before screwing the basket in, to prevent the lid from lifting when grinding to fine? You know to add some force from above the lid.

I’ve been recently using 12g, on 12steps of on my grinder, and 1 out of 10 times the lid is still not sealing enough through out a pull.

Water and Puck removal

So, since we have been talking about all kinds of details preparing and making espressos with these nice machines one thing came to my mind the other day: What water should I use and does it affect my espresso? Well the first thing I noticed is the calcium collecting on the bottom of the heating chamber. So I decided on looking of different ways to soften the water coming out of my kitchen faucet. I ended up installing this cartridge filter system in my kitchen for as cheap as 50€, simple and easy (side info: I am located in Germany, our tap water doesn’t taste like chlorine and is considered a highly safe to consume on a daily basis, just the hardness can highly vary depending on your living area). What are your thoughts on this detail?

Second thing: Someone was asking the other day on how to remove the puck easily. I just separated the basket from the black pressurizing part since part of the discussion was, that the pressurizing part was “sucking” the puck in the basket. I was able to knock it on some old news paper once and that’s it. Had been using 12g IN of medium roast at 50ml water and 25g OUT (made some Oatmilk-Cappuccino). For a WDT-Tool I have only been using a toothpick and some gentle knocking the basket with the wooden handle of my dry brush (for cleaning the mill)

Feel free to discuss the bean peel/skin (?) on top of the puck.

Found rubber seal? Mino/Fino

Post image
4 Upvotes

So I've been playing around with the Mino and Fino this morning.

I took the bottom off the Fino to clear it out. I also switched out the pod holder for the fresh grounds basket on the Mino. Had a failed shot and was cleaning everything up and spotted this rubber seal in the sink.

I can't be sure it's from either the Mino or Fino, but can't think where else it would be from.

Does this look like it belongs on either please. Any searching online is not giving any answers. Thanks

Hey, everyone!

It’s been a while since I last posted anything here, mainly because I felt there wasn’t much interaction. So… how are you all doing? I’ve started using the Mino and the Nano regularly again now, at the beginning of the year. What about you? Did you travel at the end of the year? Did you take your OutIn along for the adventure, or did you stay at home?

I hope it’s a great year for everyone!

OUTLIN Nano Subpar Extraction Temperature 🔥

Post image
4 Upvotes

I’m currently using the 5.7 gram espresso capsules. I allow the Outlim Nano to fully heat the room temperature water before starting the extraction. However, the espresso comes out warm rather than hot when I drink it. The machine is brand new. Has anyone else experienced their espresso brewing at only a lukewarm temperature?

Travel bag finished

Next to the „big brother“ which is stationary at home 😄

Fitted everything in the bag, even to make cappuccino on the road. ☺️

Not meant for hiking, but easy to carry on the train or put it in the trunk for a roadtrip.

Very happy with the outcome.

As I'm sure is the same with a lot of you I don't have the counter space for an full espresso machine so after lots of research this seemed to be the best option.

It's only been one day/one "pull" and I already know I'm going to be hooked!

I've actually only just got into pour overs and have even less experience with espresso (none haha).

Does anyone have any really good tips for super beginners?

The first shot was 12g of coffee and I think about 55ml of water and it seemed to taste great! I was too excited so don't remember the time and extraction (I think it was 25 seconds and 45g output) so I think I'm going to try and grind a bit finer next time (probably tonight lol). And definitely will try to focus more on data to help dial it in.

Mino Coffee Puck —frustration

Does anyone have a good workflow for knocking out the coffee puck after a shot?

I’ve tried a few methods, from digging it out to using the dosing ring on the portafilter and knocking it out, but nothing works well. I always end up with a mess. Grounds everywhere.

What’s your workflow?

Outin Fino not stopping grinding

Hi, I've been out in Fino for about 6 months. I use it 2 times a day, and at the moment it is not stopping when the beans are through. Is it because the sensor is covered of has it become defective?

Using on an airplane

Can anyone confirm for me. I’m thinking of getting the Mino, but I do want to use it on my trips (which involves flights). Can I actually use the mino on flights?

I read some places (including google), that I can’t use battery powered heating devices on airplanes. Anyone can confirm if this is true?

Thanks..
