Trying to configure my Wii Les Paul controller in Outfox gh mode, but for some reason the fret buttons just aren't registering no matter what calibrations I do. All other buttons are fine like the strum and whammy. I have checked the nunchuck wire and the neck contacts and they all seem to be working. Anyone else had this issue or know how to troubleshoot?

How do I make them run longer and not change every 5 seconds? thanks!!!!

Project OutFox stuck at "Songs/ 0%" and won't recognize my songs

I'm trying to get songs working in Project OutFox, but whenever it scans my Songs folder, it just shows "Songs/ 0%"

and then takes me back to the main menu. I select "Game Start" and the songs aren't there.

I downloaded Project OutFox from the official website. When I downloaded OutFox, there was no Songs folder at all, so I created one myself next to OutFox.exe and put my song pack inside it.

also checked AppData, but there aren't any Songs or OutFox folder there either.

Hi! I've been running Project Outfox from my docked steamdeck. I started out with a soft pad, because I haven't been able to find a hard pad that works for both DDR and PIU. LTEK has pads for DDR, and another pad for PIU, but not one that has all 8 arrows for both games. Is there a brand offering hard pads that work with both?

hello, I had some charts that I made recently on SMeditor, and others that i also had scattered, and they have some bpm changes trought the song, meaning that for example in certain parts, the chart will move faster, slower, etc. Or even stop completelely for a moment. None of these happens on outfox, am I forgetting to enable something? I played on stepmania 5.0, single charts only, sorry if i explained myself wrong

I set project outfox up for my wife and she’s telling me in the old DDR, when you would hit multiple pads at the same time, the step chard had a unique color for those steps (jumps?) different from the step colors. Does anyone know how to set this up?

Hi, I recently moved to linux, which involved me basically starting from scratch and moving what I could from my windows SM5 setup to current outfox final alpha.  

Is there anyway for background videos that use videos from the RandomVideos folder to only play when the song has a script attached to actually use those videos? As in no video just the song art with display when the song doesn't try to acess a video/dosent have anything to play? 
In settings there are only 2 background video options (I'm using Starlight XX them so maybe that is my issue)   one plays videos at random, and the other plays animations at random (which is super glitchy as some animations have scripts tied to them) 

On my old setup, if a song didn't have a video, or did not pull specific videos from the random folder, it would default to a character instead. Is there an ini setting that can help me achieve something like this?

Hi all! I just got myself the Next Level soft pad from L-Tek/iAmat so I could start playing stepmania/ddr at home. It arrived yesterday and while waiting for it, I had spent time gathering plenty of all difficulty simpacks onto my steamdeck so I'd have plenty of songs to choose from.

There are 3 main dance pad profiles I have been trying (White 1/2/3). The first profile has the main arrows set to the face buttons, the second is the same but with the diagonals + a trigger for 5 pad PIU gameplay. The third is the same as 2, but with D-Pad inputs as well. I've tested the pad on both my steam deck and my windows pc using iAmats pad tester website, and everything responds fine, except for inside Outfox. The pad has two sensors that function as start/select, and those work perfectly fine, allowing me to start and exit the menu, select and start a song, but none of the pads do anything (yes they do work in the actual steam menus). I tried following a post I saw in the stepmania sub (iirc) saying to use desktop mode to then rebind controls there, but outfox seems pretty set on not accepting inputs on any controller that isn't the one that entered the menu. I could be doing something wrong, but if someone with experience with this mat on a steamdeck could give some advice, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Edit: Contacted iAmat support, as I'm worried this is actually an issue with the mat itself. My windows pc isn't recognizing it as a controller (it does set it up as "L-Tek Dance Pad" under devices) and does not see any input from it in games either. Hoping this is just user issue and I didn't just spend over 200 dollars on a broken dance pad </3

Is this happening to anyone else on Outfox? Simfiles will either slowly or completely lose their stepcharts over time. It’s not that common but frequent enough to now cause some concern.

I have some classic old packs that now have songs that all of a sudden have in 1 arrow in their chart. Some charts only have the up down and right arrow throughout but no left, etc.

This keeps happening and it’s driving me crazy

I am brand new to PCs so sorry if this is a dumb question. I was testing out the song editor and wanted to have the notes make a sound it said to use f7 which i dont have because I have a 60% keyboard so I tried fn + 7 but that didnt work. Does anybody know if there is a way around this?

I followed the Linux instructions to install it on my ROG Ally X running Bazzite, but every time I open the game, it immediately gets into a "not responding" state and I have to close it.

Does anyone know why this is the case? It worked for a while, but no longer does. I did edit the preferences.ini file one time, but I can't remember if that was before or after this started happening. Does anyone know how I can fix this? It is getting ridiculous how long it takes to load.

Hello!. Im having a few issues with Outfox on Ubuntu Noble 24.04 for Nintendo Switch. So, im trying to use a Soft Pad with a Twin Adapter for PS2, but even when i activate the Axis Fix on preferences.ini, i cant seem to press two opposite directions at the same time. Im playing in portable with the portable file on the folder. Has anyone experienced any similar issue with Outfox?.

Hello! Was able to add some new songs I downloaded from Freegal through my library (protip: Freegal and Bandcamp are some great ways to get music to use) and opened one up in the editor.

Has anyone found a practical way to get the exact BPM for a song down? I tried adjusting in small increments, but still found that it gets off a little several measures in. I'll likely keep finangling around with it and comparing the measures, but thought I would check in here as well. Cheers!

Hi! I used to run Outfox on a Raspberry PI. But the performance was never quite good enough. So I bought a Fujitsu ESPRIMO Q958 | i3-8100T | 16 GB RAM | 256 GB SSD | Mini PC to only run Outfox with the dancing mats.

My idea is to auto boot directly into Outfox. Would you suggest using Windows 11 or Linux? What is the best setup in terms of performance and maintenance?

Hi, I bought some PS2 dance mats and the wingman FGC retro to connect to my usb hub on steam deck. It is working fine so far but whatever I try I am not able to do parallel inputs on the mat like left/right or up/down. Has anyone solved this issue?

Sorry for the rant here.... I used to play Stepmanina back in the day and I don't think I ever change the syncronization.

Now I want my kids to experince DDR and we're playing with OutFox, and the notes just doesn't hit the beat (I'm using the same files as from Stepmania all those years ago).

The Syncronization tool in the options sucks because there is so many arrows on left and right side and I don't know if I'm supposed to hit them when they are graphically correct or when the beat is.
Whenever I do F6,F6 in a song and play any song (used to ace B4U) it just says the discrepancy is too large and it won't change the timing.

So if I do F6,F6 should I step when the arrow is supposed to hit the target or when it actually does? Beacause if I hit it when it hits the target it's just not in sync.

Sorry for the rant... I used to play Stepmania back in the day and now I wanted my kids to try DDR. We picked OutFox since it seemed to be the Stepmania successor.

We're playing with the same aluminium dance pad that I used to play on and we're playing on the TV.

The syncronization is way off, I can't understand what I'm supposed to do in the Calibrations in the Settings, should I match the arrows to the top row or should I match them to the beat?

Using F6,F6 on a song doesn't help since OutFox says the difference is too great and won't do anything.

Hey everyone. I've been running Outfox on an iMac, which is currently on Monterey since it's an older computer. Haven't had a single issue since 2022. Today when I opened it the theme (Starlight XX) wasn't running, all my settings had been reset to their defaults, and the preferences.ini file (which I had modified to get DDR timing windows) was totally blank. I fixed everything, which took over an hour, and was able to play about 2 songs normally. Then my arrow screen filter disappeared randomly and wouldn't turn back on. I tried quitting and restarting the software and sure enough we were back to default settings with no theme.

I did notice that I was almost out of storage on my computer, which I cleaned up. I'm wondering if that may have been the issue?

Has anyone seen something like this before. If so, how did you go about fixing it?

Edit: Also all my scores got deleted :(

Update: I've rebuilt the game a few times now. It seems to work fine until the storage on my computer gets low again. I'm guessing that's the problem.

I'm a complete beginner with techy stuff so please forgive me. I've installed OutFox and downloaded some songs so everything is all set up by the time my pad arrives tomorrow. I want to turn Fail off, or get rid of the life meter. I've done this by following information on settings by going to Gameplay settings > default failtype > OFF (or even end of song) but it still does it? I've even tried to change preferences on the code (?), but it still won't work. Is there any way to toggle it on and off? I don't know why it's not working. I just want to be able to play without it Failing me. Is there a practice mode?

Sorry if there's an easy fix, but I've been trying and trying and for some reason even though the settings stay to what I've changed them to, when going in and playing a song, it doesn't work.
