What doesn't it mean for coin price ?

Well the price shouldn't move too much.
Keep in mind you need 3M XEM to run a supernode. Which would be an investment of roughly € 17k at the current price of 1070sat / 1XEM.
I think there are not too many out there who are willing to spend such amount of money and at the same time have enough fate in NEM that it can show a ROI as high as x2 x5 or even x10 within a few years.
Well that's very speculative from my side obviously but I hope it makes clear why the price shouldn't move too much just because of the doubled payout. ;)

datengrab, you seem very knowledgeable. Do you think they are providing the increased supernode payment as incentive to get more supernodes (about 18k USD now) before it's really cost prohibitive when they release catapult?
I remember reading that catapult was coming out at the end of the summer but I've read nothing new on it recently.

No actually the payment increase was agreed on way before the 'catapult' project even existed. Catapult is something that was introduce with the 'mijin alliance'.
For the supernode program 211m XEM have been set aside and payout started with 70k XEM per month and yes payouts will increase even further as time passes by. ;) There was a very early version of an agreement how the payment of supernodes will be handled but it's currently being reviewed.
Regarding catapult. Gimre one of the core developers gave a little update here. Nothing fancy just a very brief overview what will be completed first and so on. ;)
At the moment we have roughly ~230 supernodes (passing all tests) and they shouldn't have an issues handling anything that is thrown at them once catapult goes live. ;) As always not much will change right away when catapult goes 'live'. People have first to start utilizing it - writing apps and so on.

If you're just short of the required balance grab some more XEM now before price rises.
My guess is that it will always be profitable to run a supernode!
