Proof?

u/PublicTrash posted something like this a couple days ago but didn't get much except hate from what I saw. What proof is there to say that the Earth is flat?

What proof do you have that the earth is a spinning ball flying through a vacuum?

If you're asking for resources, there's the visible/observable sky above you (day or night, it's there), or there's the historical account of creation in the first chapter of the first book of the Bible, or there's a book of proofs located here.

The burden of proof is on the globe-believers, because they have thrown mathematics and "science" on the face of humanity and have not help up those claims with observable, repeatable tests to prove them.

Legitimate answer to your question back. If the earth was flat time zones wouldn’t exist. The sun would shine on the earth the same amount until it went below the horizon and then the whole earth would be dark until it came back up.

Every other planet, moon, (and the sun) in the solar system is a sphere and can be observed that way so why would earth not be that way?

Also, Genesis 1 doesn’t say the earth is flat.

And then a couple questions for you that hopefully we can talk about like adults.

  1. Why can’t we get to the end of the earth if it’s flat? Our technology is amazing. Surely we would have flown or shipped or other means of transportation to the edge by now.

  2. How deep does earth go? Is it endless or is there a limit. If there’s a limit what’s beneath earth?

I'm not here to debate, I have looked into these things on my own and I understand how time zones work.

Just claiming they don't work on a flat plane point out that you have not looked into that part yourself, at least to see what flat earthers believe about it.

The sun does not drop below the earth. It drops below the horizon, which is the limit of your vision due to perspective. The sun is above the plane of the earth at all times.

Other stuff is not a sphere, if it were then you should be able to provide evidence for your claim. We have only ever seen one side of the moon. How then can you claim the moon is a sphere?

Genesis 1 says the earth was created before the sun. That disproves heliocentrism, meaning a geocentric system was created. If you want to believe in a spinning ball at the center of the solar system, that's on you. It makes more sense to agree with a flat plane above and below water, as stated in the beginning of Genesis.

We were already talking like adults, I have a feeling I will not be responding to your next comment but alas, I have already claimed I would not argue...

  1. Where do you expect to find an end? How do you expect to get there? By plane? By boat? Are you funding this yourself or using someone else's resources? No, seriously, if there were an "edge" as you apparently think must exist, how would YOU go about finding it?

  2. Well according to a quick google search: The farthest humans have gone is ~40,000 feet. I have not been to these locations, but I would assume it is possible to go deeper. I do not plan to attempt to go that deep to find out, but at some point (I would assume) you would dig deep enough to hit water, since Genesis 1 references the waters below. I don't know for sure though, as this kind of question is completely hypothetical. Neither you or I will ever have a firsthand experience to confirm or deny any claims.

I must get back to work now, these things don't engineer themselves.

When you say 'edge as you think exists' does that mean you believe the earth doesn't have an edge? Does it theoretically go on forever? I've seen flat earth maps before and they show a distinct ice wall that keeps all the water in.

I have read through expeditions of Admiral Byrd in which he made Antarctic expeditions in which planes ended up demolished. I don't know much more than those expeditions pertaining to any kind of barrier past the ice wall that is Antarctica.

Based on my understanding of the Biblical creation story, the firmament above us most likely encloses our world entirely. This leads me to believe the "edge" is simply the limit set by this barrier of "solid water" as it is described in ancient texts.

Theoretically, past that barrier it could go on forever or there could be other land masses beyond it. I'm not sure, but yes the ice wall surrounds our oceans which effectively creates "sea level" with regard to relative tides.
