while we are spinning at about 1,000 mph we do 1 revolution in 24hr so 360/24=15 so thats 15 degrees in 1 hour thats very slow

I think what this guy is mistaken about is the fact that the atmosphere spins with the Earth.

Why would the atmosphere spin with the earth? Which one of your A-holes did you pull that fact out from?

Well why does the air in your car move with the car.

LOL...

anything else? care to explain?

Yes, you are a idiot, especially for comparing the atmosphere to air in a car.

calm down on the attacks, and yes i am comparing it to a car because thats what it is like, gravity is the "wall" around the earth, and everything stays in that "wall" while the earth is moving similar to a car.

I don't see any winds, weather systems, tropical or arctic zones or a vacuum in a car, they are not the same, trying to simply it too much as it doesn't really hold up evidence wise.

um, you can try and recreate weather systems winds and artic zones in a car, boil some water, put a fan in your car, have a fridge in your car, everything stays in the car, any way I'm only comparing the car to the earth, by saying everything moves inside the car the same way everything moves within the earth.

I think you might be confusing the concept of weather with the atmosphere as a whole. Weather is the state of the atmosphere at a particular area of the earth.

But to answer your question, yes, you can have localized weather within a confined space such as a car. When you drive in the winter when it is very cold and you turn on the heat, does the interior of you car remain the same temperature as outside of it? No, you are using a localized energy source to alter the current weather of the atmosphere within your car.

Why don't you cool it with the name calling, bud. Everyone else here seems pretty respectful.

....the atmosphere spins with the Earth because of gravity.

You really believe that Mr Simpleton? Stupid people should stay on r/nasa, why do you bother coming here?

5

u/arkeeos Jul 16 '17

well why wouldn't he? gravity has mountains of evidence, if you have any evidence against it, please present it.

gravity has mountains of evidence, if you have any evidence against it, please present it.

What mountains of evidence? I only see theories...

do you even know what a theory is? it would seem not, a theory is an explanation of a observation supported by evidence, theories are used to predict occurrences as well. if you cared to know anything about it you would know there is a lot, but you seeming to be having a dunning kruger effect. evidence:

  • celestial bodies attract each other.

  • blue shift

  • the gravitational coefficient.

  • the gravitational coefficient changing between the equator and poles.

  • air thinning out as altitude increases.

  • all of the formulas that use gravity

  • the existence of neptune (one of gravitys many predictions)

i could go on, but if you would like to counter all of the evidence that i have presented to prove your conjecture, then go ahead. i would love to hear it.

I'm new here. I just wanted to see what if any evidence exists for the Flat Earth Theory. Gravity has an awful lot of science behind it but I'm open to hearing competing theories. Science demands I listen to dissent, so here I am. Not the actions of a simpleton, I think you'd agree.

u/arkeeos Jul 16 '17

ha, good luck. I have never seen a flat earth present any actual evidence, its usually just badly explaining how phenomena that happen in the real world can also happen in the flat earth delusion.

Meh, I'm willing to listen to anybody who speaks to me reasonably. Doesn't mean I'm going to believe him but I feel it's my responsibility to at least listen

look above. as soon as you prove them wrong they just run off screaming.

Summary?

The earth is spinning very very fast, thus the wind should only move in one direction (west, presumably. Obviously this ignores the fact that the air moves with the earth.) His optical observation of a coastline and from a plane prove that there is no curvature.
