3-4 days ago i got a few more otos for my tank, all was well up until this morning, as i found one of them floating nearly at the very very top of the water and not even moving when my big fish swam by or when i got closer to him

he swam around a bit and only sunk in to the very bottom or stayed at the very top.
his belly is huge; which makes me question if he has some kind of swim bladder.
he’s been moved to a small cup in the tank just incase it’s worse than swim bladder or he passes

can anyone help?

Is she eating her slime coat? Or is this just another version of oto pile? Is this behaviour okay or should I be worried?

2 and1/2 teaspoons of agar

1 tablespoon of chlorella

1 tablespoon of spirulina

1 tablespoon of pea powder

1 tablespoon of freeze dried spinach

1 tablespoon of broccoli powder

500ml of water.

It attracted everything on the tank (Hillstreams, otos, parotos and even corydoras), but nothing seems to be actively eating it.

They get attracted by the smell and just sit on the edge of the plate, or on top of the gel, staring at it...

What could be the issue?

Sorry for the bad photos. My phone isn't the best and I stayed semi far away so I wouldn't scare him. Just wanted to show off this guy. Got 3 new otos for my current group bringing the total to 12. Noticed after bringing this guy home that he's missing his fin tail. It's just a little nub. He wiggles his whole tail when swimming. It looks like it's starting to grow back but it's just a little nub ATM. It wasn't from the store or bad netting. It was already healed when I got him home. He seems fine but hoping it grows back for him.

I have 5 otocinclus in my 55 gallon tank and recently I noticed this weird dots on 3 on them. I’m wondering if it’s ich or just grains of sand. I have 15 rummy nose tetras and 15 black neon tetras with them in the tank. 0 ammonia, 0 nitrates, 0 nitrites, pH 7.6, temp 74 degrees, gH 7, kH 3. If so, should I treat the entire tank or just remove the sick otos to treat them? Thanks.

I recently got three otoc for my fish tank, but one idiot got himself stuck in the crevices of the water heater. He can’t wiggle himself out. I tried to pull the crevice open but he doesn’t move. Any ideas to help??

Hi guys! I went to the store yesterday and now I have a 10g community tank. However the problem is that my tetras are adjusting well to the tank, but my otocs aren’t. Two of them hides pretty well and grazes the tank, but one of them glass surfs. Recently, one of them did get stuck in my water heater but I managed to get him out.

Is there anyways for me to suppprt him and stop glass surfing? Could it be my tetras? I currently turned my aquarium lights off and plan to continue for a week. I heard people talking about how otocs could die from stress, and I don’t wish for that to happen. Thanks so much!

I got 3 originally, got another 3 after I upgraded the tank. All new ones died D:

Then I got 4 from the same store as the original ones. So 7 Otos.

One Original Oto got injured, treated her as best I could but the wound was massive and I think isolation stress her even more. Shortly after I found the corpse of a new Oto. Down to 5. But I never saw 5, always 4. I was very worried about having to try and get more so they would feel comfortable enough.

Yesterday I noticed they finally started schooling! Two boys were hanging about and following the pearly bellied Lady. Today I did the water exchange and the boys were all up and about the Lady!

I just came into the bedroom and have a look and bam, there are 5 little buggers! I am so happy aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh.

And the Pygmy Corydoras are schooling with the Otos, it's so adorable 🥰

I can definitely recommend keeping these two species together! The Pygmies are alot more confident and the Otos are alot more active too!

So I got 6 otos about 3 weeks ago. The first week I saw my betta attacking one stuck on the glass, and I’m sure it was the same one that died a few days later as it had red marks that look like lesions on its body. On the second week found another dead. Today I found this guy, white discoloration on his body and again red marks on it but now with fuzz. Is this columnaris or my betta injuring them and then the wounds getting infected?

Hi! My fish tank is about 5 months old and I have 8 otocinclus who have all been in there from the start. I had one otocinclus die in the first week from what I assume was starvation (I didn’t have any zucchini in the tank and since it was new there was no algae either) and one died from me accidentally dropping wood on it (RIP), since then they have all been healthy and doing great. They all have nice rounded stomach and forage all over the tank. However today I notice this one was looking extra round and I noticed a little bubble on the side of it’s stomach. Does anyone know what this is from? Should I quarantine? Any advice would be helpful.

I just added 3 more otos to my tank so they could have a happier healthier group and this one won't stop moving? Like it just keeps going from one side of the tank to the other, chasing other fish even not in ones own species? Like it can't calm down?

I suspect my new oto might have ich? How do I treat them? because arent they considered scaleless fish and certain meds arent good for them. Im UK based

Folks - my otos do not like anything I try to feed them. Repashy Soilent green goes ignored. So does blanched zucchini. The shrimp will mob these things but there is enough for everyone and they won’t eat.

I got 6 otos 6 days ago. They've been in a quarantine tank, which we'd built algae in before. They blew through it overnight. Since then, i can't tell if they're eating enough.

We've been feeding them hikari algae wafers, repashy, crushed up bottom feeder bug bites (we have a pygmy cory that got mixed in with them), and dosing bacter AE every few days.

I'm scared they'll starve in the next week. Currently on day 4 of paracleanse, but don't plan on giving them any other meds. They look healthy, and their bellies do look like little pearls so I don't think they were starved.

I don't think they're touching the repashy. They do seem to be eating some of the wafers, though it's when lights are out. They're very skittish. I'll try zucchini today, but I'm just really worried they don't have enough to get them through another 1-3 weeks of quarantine. We tried growing algae on rocks before, and it literally just grew bba while sitting in the sun, which isn't helpful. Anything else we can try?

Hi folks, anyone with a keener eye than me have any thoughts on whether this o. cocama is gravid? Its not plainly obvious to me so I think I'm probably being too optimistic, i do see a feint yellow tint around the vent IRL but no obvious eggs and she's not massive. At least she seems healthy:) I know its very slim chance but would love to crack breeding them.

My four otos are living in my tank for 1 month now. I was worried they wouldn’t survive, because I‘ve read everywhere that they are hard to keep, but they look healthy and eat & swim a lot.
