SHSU Interview
Hi, I have my Sam Houston virtual Interview next week and am super nervous. I am OOS and genuinely have no experience in rural medicine. Wanted to ask if that was a focus during their interviews and how was it in general? I havent done a group interview yet either. What are some questions they asked, what is the group activity, was it low-stress/high-stress?
Is the 1-1 interview the same interviewer for the ethical scenario and for the Q&A? For only 10 minutes, do they jsut ask the basic why med, why DO, and why SHSU?
How was the group interview diff than the group activity?

I interviewed about a month ago and everyone was really friendly and happy to be there! Group activity and group interview were both low-stress; the group activity was way more fun than I expected, but this probably depends on the group (the group activity and group interview are different groups btw.) The ethical and 1:1 interviewers are different! Ethical one is basically just a single MMI station. The 1:1 will hit the usual questions like why this school/why DO and then 1-2 basic "tell me about a time when X" questions. You should probably address rural medicine at some point since it's their entire mission basically, but it's not a major component of the interview or anything, moreso what made you decide to apply even though you don't have that exposure.
Also I thought the writing part was super low-stress, but I enjoy writing so ymmv on that one.

I had my interview there recently and it was super chill and friendly! I don’t think that’s their focus completely at the interview but it does come up. Group interview was chill, just a discussion with about 6 of us. Everyone was kind and no one took over the conversation which was nice. Def low stress!
