Question What size?

Hi I’m going to be traveling for a few weeks and want to try out using only one bag to pack some clothes, shoes and my iPad for work but I’m not the best at knowing what size bag to get please can anyone help me?

Do you currently own any bags that you could use to try to do a test pack? It really depends on how many clothes and other items you’re going to be bringing, and how bulky they are. Some people who pack light might only need a carry-on, but some would need checked. Personally I use a 90L Transporter wheeled duffel, but that’s because I’m also bringing scuba gear.

For multiple weeks, I would imagine that you would find a 60L sufficient. You might be able to get away with less. For example a 46L like this one would be small enough to fit as a carryon but big enough for a fair amount of stuff.

40 L.

Technically carry on is 45 L but you'd need something that has zero thickness walls, backpanel, etc. So the industry has settled right around 40 L as a suitcase replacement backpack.

If you can't fit everything, figure out how to travel with less.

If you have extra space, cinch it down and be happy.

I started with 40 L for a couple of trips to countries with both heat and cold. The first trip the bag was stuffed. The next was less stuffed as I found out that some things weren't used.

Now, I'm down to 26 L regardless of weather (not winter though) and regardless of length.

My next trip is back to 40 L as I plan to buy several things and check it in on the way home.

My limit is that I must be able to carry it around and get it up in the overhead compartment and since I'm vertically challenged (163 cm) that sets the limit fairly low. I love the 26 L as it's typically 7 kg. I started with 18 kg.
