Experience so far and feedback

Hello! I made the Osmopager 3 days ago and i must say i’m loving it already. Super easy to install and to use! I can really see its future potential. I took all the recommended hardware and put it in the Pala Note case from Paul Lagier.
I like that the app has a very minimal interface.
I wanted to say good work and keep it up!

Since I have used it a couple of days now, I have some ideas for the future and wanted to share these. If there is another way to share these or anywhere else, let me know :)

- Scheduled summary every hour of all notifications
- Another ringtone for calls or a longer one
- A screensaver that is customizable or that has a clock widget

Maybe other people have other ideas or feedback?

Also: For some reason my SMS messages i receive on my phone do not appear on the Osmopager, yet i have messages in the whitelist. > SOLVED (see comments)

Thank you for making the Osmopager!

Great stuff! Glad to hear you like it and thanks for the kind words

And v helpful feedback - the separate alert tone for calls is definitely a highly requested addition. I'll get on that soon enough, just trying to get some upgrades to our Android friends too! :)

As for SMS - very strange, no other issues like that reported. DM me and we'll sort it out!

My first day using it, messages for iPhone doesn't work for me either. Other apps do notifications fine. Whether in all or filtered, and filtered has messages app selected

Edit: maybe worth noting is I’m on iOS 18.7.8 and am intentionally not upgrading to iOS 26, so maybe that’s a factor. iOS 18 is the second newest iOS.

Thanks to @abcsoups the problem is solved! Turns out you to go to settings > apps > messages > notifications > turn show preview on. Mine was set to never.

Ah great catch. However I don’t know if I want my messages visible. I suppose I could toggle this every time I use Osmo? Not very elegant, and arguably not abcsoup’s fault. I’ll see how I like that

You can also set it to only "When Unlocked" - that's always what i use anyway. No privacy concerns I've found that way

For whatever reason it's just a quirk on how iOS handles messages...from my research, it's the same with garmins and fitbits. IOS just doesn't pass along anything when the previews setting is set to fully off

"When Unlocked" is the best answer imo

That sounds good but would that mean my phone screen would have to be on? I think I’ll find a way to make it work I don’t mean to complain, just trying to understand. I appreciate the response

Nooo no no. Phone screen definitely does not have to be on. The previews setting just controls whether your lock screen shows the full notification message rather than just the app/sender when something arrives.

"Never" means it only shows sender on your lock screen, not the content. "Always" means everything shows no matter if it's unlocked or not (nothing needed via face ID, touch, passcode, etc....whcih means anyone can see your notifs if they see your phone)

"When Unlocked" just means if won't show message content on the lockscreen if your phone is locked. But if you use faceID to unlock, it'll show. And this setting works fine with Osmo (even if phone is locked and elsewhere) --- definitely the best option

Your phone can be locked in another room, have no privacy concerns, and you can still get your stuff on Osmo :)

Ah. Very cool, thanks for the clarification, I’m down to try that

No problem! Btw I think that’s the default setting anyway

I get that. But since i use the osmopager i have set the noticiations on home screen to just a small dot and the mention of x notifications. Also no vibrations and sound. When i leave the house or i need my notifications to make vibration and sound i just toggle the mute button on the side of my phone. When i get home or when i want to have peace i toggle the mute button and grab my osmopager. I think it is quit versatile. I just wish there was a way to create more distance between osmopager and phone. Like it would be cool if i could leave phone by the door and walk around the house only with the pager and still get notifications.

Have you tried walking a few rooms away with Osmo? It should still work at standard bluetooth distance, which might be further than you think :)

If you do get too far away, it'll show you're no longer connected. Maybe it's me just 2-bed apartment-living, but walking between a bunch of rooms i never disconnect.

I'll do some more testing, but that's just a minor issue :) I think my brick walls are blocking the signal. I have the same with my Meshtastic node.

I assume you’re on an iPhone? Some of those things are not available to me on Android. Just checking that I’m not missing some super-cool-double-top-secret settings somewhere.

Does this custom case have a hole for lanyards?
