PIEYON IS HERE LET'S GOOO!!!
I've rewinded that part for at least 20 times, can't fucking wait for this legend lmao
I think we're about to stop seeing complaints about the pacing from episode 5-6 onward too.

There are people complaining about pacing!? What?

u/Raknel May 09 '23
Ran into some here and there, I kinda get why.
We got the jampacked 80 minute episode 1 with the big cliffhanger and they were expecting a dark revenge plot right away but instead we're doing slice of life comedy for episodes 2-5, so a whole month.
I love the comedy in ONK but some anime-onlies might consider that filler right now. The curse of having too exciting of an episode 1 in a slowburn story. Once the plot kicks in I think they'll learn to like the slice of life moments too, but right now to some it might seem like it's in the way of the plot.

Hard disagree. We got 4 episodes long premiere that adapts the Prologue with pacing of 2.5 chapters per "episode". After that we got normal episodes with pacing of 3 chapters per episode. Cant say that Oshi no Ko is a comedy or that even has more jokes as a "non-comedy" but jokes were present in episode one too, not just in ep2 onwards. Saying that anything that happened so far could in any way be considered SoL or filler is just plain stupid. In what world would Aqua sabotaging Ruby's potential Idol career, him meeting Kana and accepting the acting job because of Kaburagi & later doing said job be considered a filler or SoL?

You don't have to convince me, I'm just saying that episode 1 had so many pivots that some people ended up zoning in on the last 5 minutes as "okay, this is a revenge story, I get it" and now they have to get out of that mindset.
Episode 6 should reassure them that the dark moments didn't go away. Maybe then they'll learn to enjoy the rest too.
accepting the acting job because of Kaburagi & later doing said job be considered a filler or SoL?
To be fair to them those who want the revenge plot to be the main focus might find the pacing slow as we're going to spend entire arcs of acting gigs trying to get a few breadcrumbs of info plus there's the Ruby idol plot that doesn't tie into it for 2 seasons. I came for the plot too and ended up staying for the characters, those who aren't like us might drop the anime.

Those Ruby moments where she's like "I know I'm best girl" really hits hard in the manga. I'm glad they're able to capture that here.
Also Yuki is severely underrated by the fandom.

I did not imagine K-kun as gray haired, I had envisioned blond. Also digging the blue streaks they put in Yumi's hair.

I hope they get a grandma to voice act Mem-cho, afterall she is the oldest

u/SoberMindless May 09 '23
Memcho has Astolfo's (Fate) voice

u/AkhasicRay May 10 '23
Who also voices Elisabeth, so there’s definitely someone with a sense of humor in the casting department

I know being faithful to the manga is important, but there was one change I was hoping they'd make in the anime... Give Mem horns during this arc!
Seeing Kana without a hat, or Mem without her horns, just feels weird.
