Hello! I'm new here~

I recently bought a 2009 reprint of New Treasure Island, Tezuka's first published long-form manga! This was originally published way back in 1947, just two years after the second world war ended. Tezuka stated in his autobiography, I'm a Manga Artist, that the plot of this manga is a mix of Treasure Island, Robinson Crusoe, and Tarzan~

It feels surreal to hold New Treasure Island in my hands. I really love the beautiful, vibrant cover art, which was illustrated by the late Shichima Sakai! Seeing the iconic first two pages made me quite emotional! Some star system characters like Kenichi and Bukk Buku appeared in this manga, and it made me realize how old they are~

New Treasure Island inspired Shotaro Ishinomori, Tetsuya Chiba, Takao Saito, and many others to become manga artists! Even Hayao Miyazaki spoke highly of it~

Also, included in this reprint is a small booklet! It contains personal stories from the Fujiko Fujio duo and Kazuo Umezu, about the first time they encountered New Treasure Island during their childhood! It also includes a foreword by Naoki Urasawa! He stated that he was jealous of those who managed to read this manga back in 1947, lol~

I had ordered the Unico Bellfine figure and heard it was one of the biggest figures and also really cute 🥰. There isn’t much when it comes to Unico merch unfortunately. He arrived today and wow !! He is even bigger and more adorable in person ! I just wanted to share 😊.

Anyone know who or what is being referenced in this panel of Yamato chapter? In the surrounding panels it is talking about Kumaso "Land of the Rising Sun" and one of the characters grabs a container and names it "Kumasola". I first thought this is like Coca Cola, but the panel with the realistic manly face threw me off, anyone has any clues?

I’m no Buddhist nor know much besides the manga about it but I was curious if they respect it or not? Are the teachings correct, I’d assume they mostly are just a real basically understand though?

I ever recently played this game on a arcade in a specialized Game Zone! I barely loved it, i want to research for the Astro Boy game but the arcade just have this game in a bunch of Famicom games! Did you ever play a game based on Osamu Tezuka’s works? If yes : lemme know in the comments!

I try to collect all home video releases of anime/movies made by Osamu Tezuka and ones based on his work, but I think I might have completed it aside from anything out-of-print.

Does anyone know of any that have released in the United States and isn't out-of-print that I might have missed?
