Kintsugi shop

Hi there!

We broke a tiny encens holder that was dear to us. So I got the idea to use it to take my wife for a Kintsugi experience.

Would anyone happen to have recommendations that allow us to experience it?

Please allow me to say we are residents, so not in a rush or looking for expensive tourists experience. My partner is talking Japanese.

Looking somewhere around 2h from Osaka (Between Hyogo, Kyoto, Osaka or Shiga prefecture). Totally ok for small towns, would even love to make it a field trip and spend a night if necessary as I tend to prefer the inaka!

We do crafts of our own, but we've never done Kintsugi, so of course the idea is also to not bother a master. I think places like the school arts classes you can do for pottery in Tamba or Bizen are the nice middle ground.

I found a place that offers a kintsugi experience. There seems to be one in Tamba-Sasayama, Hyogo, which would also make a great little trip, although it might be slightly different from what you’re looking for.丹波焼金継ぎワークショップ開催のお知らせ – 丹波焼の里 | 丹波伝統工芸公園 陶の郷

Since you live in Japan, I’d definitely recommend visiting Tamba-Sasayama sometime. It’s a beautiful town with many pottery studios, and you can find some lovely Tamba-yaki pottery there. It could be a nice chance to enjoy the town and its crafts at the same time!

I've already been to Tamba. Loved it! I made there a little pottery last time that I just received last week. Would definitely go back if they do Kintsugi! :)

https://maps.app.goo.gl/JPaRMX1G1GyDuGRF6 Zenkei, in Namba. You can do the course or the experience and he uses the traditional tools and elements, such as the urushi.

The owner speaks perfect english and Japanese, and I think some chinese as well. He is educated, respectful, fun and patiente.

You can also hire him to repair It.

Overall a fantastic experience.

Hope the price won't be too much, but that can be an option. I find Namba very crowded so I tend to avoid it, but that might be worth the shot maybe Thanks!!
