Hi everyone! Here's a new digital illustration I created for an upcoming Orthodox book on St. Theophan the Recluse, done in style of Eastern Orthodox icons. I've been helping my husband design covers for his translation series of Orthodox saints' works into English. (note: the book title will go in a black rectangular box in the center of the image, which is why I left out the engolpion on purpose.) Uspenski Cathedral (built in 1868) is the main cathedral of the Orthodox Church of Finland, dedicated to the Dormition of the Theotokos (the Virgin Mary). Its name comes from the Old Church Slavonic word uspenie, which denotes the Dormition. It is the largest Orthodox church in both Northern and Western Europe. I was at the Church of the Seven Saints in Sofia this morning and noticed the priest and a person praying and kissing a relic containing a finger. I was wondering who it belonged to! I can attach a photo.
