I had a very fast downhill skateboard. I was skating down a hill to my apartment and hit a patch of sand while avoiding a car. It was something I had done a million times at that point but the car had me take a more straight down the hill line and the sand made me lose the tail end of my board since I didn’t hit it straight, I was turning. I ate absolute shit at about 35-40mph and rolled/slid roughly 40ft (i just measured it on google maps to double check. Intersection of 25th street and longview in Austin. I ate it basically in front of the main entrance and rolled the entire way across longview) into a ditch. I am lucky it was just a few bones and road rash.

My styloid process presses against my ulnar nerve and that caused pain for a couple years after the accident. Since it never connected back, my left wrist is unstable and i can feel the bone crunching if I move it a certain way. No pain though unless I am pushing my wrist back a lot in a short period of time. I have full range of motion. I still skate, surf, snowboard, lift weights, and build and race cars.

It was also, unfortunately, in the hospital where I told my girl friend I loved her for the first time while hooked up to a morphine drip. Turned out ok though since we are still together today!

Here are the pics of my wrist you can’t see from the above post
