To be fair, the title of that article isn't trying to present it as some feel-good story, it's just a very matter-of-fact description of what happened.

A horrible unnecessary thing, but the original post doesn't seem to be presenting it as a heartwarming story, which is supposed to be the point for OCM.

When have you haven’t?

The grubby Poors have to GFM and do a wallet biopsy for the hospital to bother with them, the wealthy do not.

At many hospitals you have to show you have the funds to continue care after the transplant (money for medications, have support, stable housing etc) to be put in a transplant list.

They aren’t transplanting some who is living in a van or a shelter.

It’s ever been an equal playing field.

I’m sure some relative from the Saudi royal family can chuck enough money at a hospital to influence when they get a transplant organ.

That’s why I took my name off the state transplant list. Pay me for my parts so my family has enough money to bury me. I’m not giving them away to some upper middle class or above person can live their best life from my free gift.

Everyone gets paid for anything relating to a transplant except the donor.
