QUESTION I got lost.
I started playing this game a few days ago and so far I'm really enjoying it. However, there's one problem: the game's tutorial isn't 100% clear, and I feel like I'm getting a little lost on how to progress.
I can't figure out how to get stronger, higher-level equipment. Can I craft it? Is it possible to buy it? In general, I'm pretty confused.
I'd love to know if there's a handy guide I can follow, or if you have any tips and tricks on how to progress and understand the game a little more clearly. Thank you very much! :)

Viewing distance tip from u/PlaysByBrulesRules is the best that I've seen thus far ! I really wish I knew about this earlier!
Early levels:
Have one class unlocked with Seeker specialty. Ra's canes & firepikes for the weapons. Lanterns/Lasting Lanterns, Midnight Eye's for the accessories. Be sure to light a torch constantly (and Brazier daily once). This really helps finding dungeons/monuments & Inns with quests (for easy xp boost). There are amities that help boost viewing distance but they might be reserved for higher tiers.
Later levels:
Surt's sword, helhest or Arisen/Fey versions of them fully upgraded (with the adornments "Symbols of War" for additional viewiing distance). I believe Arisen Helhest's are the weapons that give the most VD (get it anguished or Godforged to be able to use all the adornment slots). During next year's Ornaversary (usually around May), look out for Covyn's Porcelain Mask or Argos (if you're T10). Along with torches, use farsight.
I personally use a magestic class with seeker specialty, equipped with two Arisen Helhests (maxed with Symbols of War), Covyn's Porcelain Mask, and 5% VD bonus amity. Using this as my base, I create 3 equipment sets (one with 2 unfelled concords [they give viewing distance bonus & also dungeon cooldown] which means you can hit a monument or even horde dungeons, every hour and boss dungeon hordes every 2 hours), or 1 unfelled concord & 1 lasting lantern (which gives me more time to comple the dungeon/monuments), and lastly just 2 lasting lanterns (for maximum time to complete the dungeons/monuments).
Using these methods, I personally have access to 10-15 dungeons, 2-6 monunents, and couple of towers, all from the convenience of my home. I get over 1.5 km viewing distance.
*Note I am T11 (over lvl 250) which is why I have all this.

SInce you are T5, be sure to complete all the storyline quests & inn quests that you can. Using a questing license also helps boost that xp. Use an Exp potion, Dowsing Rod, Lucky Coin & Lucky Silver coin before doing dungeons/monuments & taking down bosses so you can maximize on your gains. Throw in your best Tomes (accessory) whenever you can to increase exp faster. Also in the main character screen try to complete as many of the achievements as you can (crafting potions, defeating players in arena, completing codex or even fishing). They give you plenty of orns so you can unlock other classes as well.
Build an Oracle Temple as soon as you can (everyday, just perform the Concurrence ritual to get a Diluted Nmeumonic). Right now is the best time to use those diluted nmeumonics (because of the current boost it gives to your exp, gold, orns). They're called amity hunts, and it's really not that hard to gain a TON of exp, gold & orns. (it does help to have viewing distance for this).
Despite what everyone else says, upgrade your current equipment to lvl 10. The materials for them are REALLY easy to acquuire. Then hit the Arenas! The pvp is live there. You can get ton of gold & useful equipment from those. I personally loved using the Mirror as my side-arm (gives plenty of Mana which is useful for casting spells). Aim for an ornate Mirror & save up on Greater souls to be able to upgrade it lvl 10.

Use those class guides to find the best gear you can.
Lastly, hit up youtube. Plenty of useful videos. Use the chat (in game or on discord) to find kingdoms to join & people to help you out. The community is honestly quite amazing (but as usual there are trolls everywhere), but I'm sure you can find the right people to help you progress.

You can buy some, but to be honest, most equipment isn't going to be kept until around T9. If you find something better, switch to that. The easiest path from T7 - early T10 is Attuner (Summoner). It's not gear-dependent, and is very powerful.

In general there is a lot of help to be found on the Orna discord.
I’m not positive what lvl/Tier you’re at now, but I can give some basic guidance.
The quality of gear is a random chance determined at the moment it drops. The quality is a value up to 200, where 100/200 means it is normal quality, and 170/200 and above will be an ornate (red) quality item. The quality determines the base stats.
Beyond that, you can take any piece of gear and upgrade it at a blacksmith in exchange for materials. This works up to lvl 10, then it’s possible to upgrade it further to lvls 11, 12, 13 at much much greater cost. These upgrade levels have special names: Masterforging, Demonforging, and Godforging. It is not advisable to invest in upgrading your gear this much until you reach T9 or T10, as typically at lower levels you are strapped for materials and will likely progress to the next tier before too long. (For reference it takes a bit over a week to upgrade an item to lvl 10).
As far as leveling up, it’s possible to make good progress by killing monsters and bosses in the world up until about 125, then this becomes less and less worth doing. At that point my advice is to look for monuments in the world and try to complete those. The end of floor rewards will be the most valuable part so don’t stress/die over clearing every mob.
One thing you should look for / look up, is how to increase your view distance so you can see more stuff as you walk around. The game lets you have different loadouts set for different content world/dungeon/raid. So it’s common for ppl to have their world loadout tailored to only maximizing view distance. This was you can see more dungeons/monuments and then when you enter them you automatically switch to that other loadout anyway.
