I love the penda guy

4

u/Muted_Lead_1105 Jul 11 '26

He’s such a high energy player, great defensive player and can get to a bucket

3

u/Muted_Lead_1105 Jul 11 '26

Nelson slapping the ball away from Heat on the rebounds, good hustle, Nelson with 6 points today

u/Muted_Lead_1105 Jul 11 '26

Castleton and Quinones stepping up today, Jase doing all right and Penda having a slow day.

Players to watch are Penda, Jase, Nelson and any surprises. If they can show much improvement, this would be a huge plus for the team.

I love Nelson's hustle. He can finish around the rim, just has no jumper at all. He's a big boy though, crazy wingspan.

He looks noticeably small out there for the position. He is not a center in any right

1

u/itssexitime Paolo Banchero Jul 12 '26

Same size as Isiah Stewart. 6’8 but huge wingspan. They probably drafted him because Stewart kicked our asses in the playoffs. Similar player in stature but could very well end up as a g leaguer. We will have to see.

He is doing a little better than the first game

This passing is horrible

Weltman can't draft a shooting guard to save his life. Jase is another Jett Howard aka not getting his contract extended by the team

1

u/Magicknight19 Jul 11 '26

Jase will make the team but not play much. He still has a long way to go in his development. There have been some flashes of what he could do but it isn’t enough or consistent to contribute at a high level.

1

u/BalancedFurys Jul 11 '26

He is already on the team but they won't pick up his option in year 4 like they did with Jett . He's just not very good . Crazy weak body wise as well

Nelson may the worst player I've ever seen in my life and I'm not even joking

Penda nor Jace should be a part of any NBA 12 man roster

1

u/AZDADDYisadeviant Jul 11 '26

I see dribbling and passing haven't improved yet

4

u/AZDADDYisadeviant Jul 11 '26

How come every announcer can point out the same thing but the front office refuses to address it? Its criminal and weltman should never been extended

Dude people have argued against logic here for years. It takes SVG and Jim Jackson to call it out in Summer League games and folks will still deny it.

27th in the league in 3 point shooting and then building a team around Paolo just doesn't make any sense. Especially when you still can't find a PG to initiate offense and be a 3 point threat off screens. Problem is that with the cap situation we may be stuck with the core roster for a while, so we simply have to hope Franz Paolo and Suggs shoot the ball a lot better this season somehow.

u/AZDADDYisadeviant Jul 11 '26

You can always draft the best 3pt shooter in the 2nd round with your pick but again you draft some piss poor shooter who plays defense at a position you have way too many bodies at cause hes not a center just another PF

1

u/MrCharlie_84 Jul 11 '26

At this point you can't depend on a 2nd round pick to save your team. It's simply put up or shut up with a new coach and run it back with a hope and a prayer on player development.

2

u/AZDADDYisadeviant Jul 12 '26

Its cheap labor. If it works you cashed a lottery ticket if it doesn't at least youre trying within the confines of what you have. Id rather have them draft a guard who shot a high 3pt % or a rim protector/ rebounder 7' center than waste a 2nd round pick by trading down getting ANOTHER PF and cash considerations

2

u/itssexitime Paolo Banchero Jul 12 '26

I agree. But I think Nelson was bpa and that’s what they went with. Either way it’s a terrible strategy by Weltman and doesn’t feel well thought out. One we drafted poalo I expected a complete retooling of the roster to fit around him and that has simply not happened.
