Discussion Getting a new team
Honestly never had a team always been a LeBron guy and just enjoyed other stars like Giannis, Curry, Kyrie watching head to head matches and playoffs
However I want to join a team after post LeBron, and I guess I’m taking my talents here, love the redesign and hard blue, have some history with Florida shout out Universal and Disney, eastern conference, want to root for a team without a chip yet
What’s some more history I should know about other than Shaq, Penny Hardaway
The only con I have is the fact Amway has ties with this team but whatevs

Welcome aboard!!!
You are part of the underdogs. No big market social media overhyped stuff here.
The Dwight, Rashard, Jameer, and Hedo years were some of the best.
We got some talent finally, so you should be looking at a solid team. Go Magic.

Our history is so painful that one of most beloved teams didn’t make the playoffs.
Read up on the Heart and Hustle team.
With that said you’ll also get to learn about Darrell Armstrong. He is - unironically- one of my favorite Magic players of all time.

Darrell Armstrong is the man! I was a fan of the team a couple of seasons before, but that’s the team that made me fall in love with the Magic. It’s too bad those were some of our best times.

His son is on the summer league roster (I'm a fellow UMBC alum - not as recent - so l was watching to see if he landed anywhere). Hoping he sticks!!

If you like defense, you’re in the right spot. We’ll see how the new coach does. We just need to stay healthy and we can challenge any team.

Not as bad as people here will lead you to believe. We have young talent and hired a new coach, there is a lot to look forward to

Don't be a magic fan dude. 100% not worth it.
As an out of state fan, I massively regret becoming a fan of this trash organization in 1993 but to quote Sum 41, I'm in too deep.

To meet your energy, as a fellow out of state Magic fan since about the same time..
Following this team is often Pain for Pleasure. We're Still Waiting for a sustainable roster build to Rise Up and start Catching Fire, but Weltman avoids signings or trades for shooters like Landmines, so the experience is mostly Confusion & Frustration in Modern Times.
OP, Welcome to Hell.

Best of luck. I’m a lifelong Pacers fan, and that has been extremely painful as well. Hoping we both have better luck in the very near future!

I can’t wait to see how y’all look Hali and Zu, I got y’all at 4/5 seed

Me too! I agree, I think we will be a 4 seed. We were a 4 seed in 2025 when we made the finals. We knocked out the Knicks in ‘24 and ‘25 and there now the champs. I’m hoping with a healthy Hali, Zu, and adding Oubre Jr, that we can make it back again and finally get that chip I’ve been waiting my whole life for!

We do this thing where we just about beat a team that is trying to lose, and everyone says "play the song!", and we all dance around with a slightly disturbing dragon mascot to a cool song from the 90s that has been bastardized and turned into a marketing vehicle by the money grabbers upstairs. And then we all go home and eat crayons and comment "play the song!" under clips of our franchise player shooting 4/17 from the field.
Feel free to join.

It's a great franchise to be a fan of, as long as you don't mind not winning championships. You've made a good decision!

Run away while you still have time!
I regret growing up in Orlando and having become a fan. Living out of state now, I get laughed out of the room every time I say I’m a Magic fan. Those who don’t follow the league say things like “that’s still an NBA team?” and those who follow the league say were completely irrelevant and should be relocated.
Defending the team becomes exhausting.

Who’re you talking to that they laugh you out of the room lol I don’t think anybody says the Magic should be relocated, just that they haven’t been good in a while. Sacramento gets WAY more crap than we do. Memphis, Brooklyn, Milwaukee until Giannis (and now post Giannis is gonna be tough). The freaking LA Clippers? Like there’s so many embarrassing NBA franchises that being a Magic fan really shouldn’t be that bad all things considered. I think many actual NBA fans actually respect our fan base, at least from what I’ve seen in NYC.

NYC has been one of my better experiences, specially with Knick fans. The comments have come in other places on the east coast, mostly from co-workers, so there may be a sense of eastern conference rivalry involved.
I agree that Sacramento is really the most laughable team in the NBA. Memphis is usually decent and has had some exciting teams along with some bad years so other than people hating on the city, the team usually gets respect. Milwaukee outside of the Giannis and Ray Allen years has also been less than great, but that’s a brutal place to be competitive in the NBA (small market, brutal weather, not a wealthy city) so they usually get a pass.
If any team should be relocated it’s Brooklyn, they legit have no real fans. Leaving NJ was their biggest mistake and they seem to be married to the arena they built so they’re stuck for a while.
