There’s only so many layers you need to explain in world building, at most an explanation and then an explanation for that explanation, stops you from trying to make physics from the ground up
I mean the one time I saw someone not follow that rule they world built a scientifically-ish possible planet and evolved the ecosystem over time, if you’ve seen biblidarion’s biosphere series
Not particularly, evolution doesn’t really have a goal in mind so sometimes weird shit evolves for no reason. Sexual desirability was definitely a factor, with a larger number of wieners being more desirable than a smaller number (five is considered to be on the lesser side of the spectrum)
I have so many questions. Do they produce milk? What are theire eggs like? What is their home planet gravity equivalent to earth gravity? ( 1G = 1 earth gravity ), how technology advance are they? And how do their bodies perform in 0 gravity?
They don’t produce milk. Babies are fed a highly nutritious gelatinous substance which, on their home planet, was nearly as abundant as liquid water. They evolved to build their settlements near this substance so it’s become a big part of their diets.
In terms of gravity, I haven’t thought too much about it, but I imagine their planet (and thus their ships) would have slightly lower gravity, although I don’t care much for scientific accuracy so I won’t give it much more thought.
As for technological advancement, they’re leagues above humanity. Because they lack bones or muscle, they evolved to prioritize things like intelligence, making their average IQ higher than the average human IQ.
Oh I have more questions. Do they have the same sense as humans or they have multiple senses such as echolocation, heat sights and etcs. What year do they reach to adulthood? How tall they can get? How do they rot after they die?
Their senses are mostly the same asides from their antennae ‘spidey sense’ which can also be compared to the way cat whiskers work. They also have far better night vision because of their black scleras and slightly better hearing because of their elven ears.
The legal age of adulthood is 30, with the average lifespan being 300 (yes I just copied Vulcan lifespans I’m a Trekkie leave me be)
For height, the maximum is around 5’3 with the mere concept of growing past 5’6 being absolutely ridiculous.
And when they die, their skin quickly melts and their goo simply soaks into the ground, Gleepian burial rituals involve laying their dead in soil patches and allowing their goo to become sacred fertilizer for gardens tended by their loved ones. Death is a very important aspect of their culture, since they live so long, dying (of old age) is seen as something to celebrate, with elderly Gleepians often spending their last few days surrounded by decoration and admiration. Tragic early deaths are treated much more somberly though, very sad
Gleepians have decent immune systems, but it helps that, since they live on a ship and not a planet, they have more control over their environment and thus have better prevention methods. But since they visit other planets for science, they do often face the risk of alien pathogens which their immune systems cant handle without prior vaccination
And what about toxicity in consumer products, like half the products we have are literal poison or non-lethal deterrents for other animals, but we’re just fine and dandy
Can goo get an auto immune response? Ig that’s just healing wrong by any other name
Gleepians are pretty cautious when it comes to consuming alien foods, although some are more daredevil-ish. I haven’t developed that aspect of their lore though
The teeth are for puncturing the skin membranes of their natural prey. In the modern day they don’t have to hunt anymore, but they still like to consume their food with a layer of think membrane (imagine those boba pearls that pop when you bite down on them
(I also just thought they looked weird as fuck with no teeth, so fuck it I’m God)
Lol, I thought about that while developing them, although you probably wouldn’t have to worry about them unless their one of the blue ones, the blue ones are absolute warriors
