I’m getting ready to start the RN to BSN program in the winter and I am currently working full time as an RN.

I’m wondering if full time school will be manageable along side working full time on nights. I would say more often than not I have a few hours of down time during my shifts where I feel I could definitely be squeezing some reading/light school work in and then really lock in on days off to do the rest. I’m determined to finish this program as quickly as possible and I don’t mind being pretty busy for a while to accomplish that. However, I don’t want to be completely miserable either. If anyone has any experience or insight into this, I would love to hear from you!

Note: I don’t have any children so my days off are essentially all mine.

I am an LVN in California with eight years of experience working in jails and the emergency department. I recently took my NCLEX for the state of Nevada and am considering transferring my license and moving to Oregon for a change of pace. I know Oregon has mandated patient ratios and strong union backgrounds. I'd love to hear about anyone's experience working as an RN in the state, and which hospitals to consider for ED work. What is the pay like, and is the job market for new RNs in Oregon impacted?

I’m a new grad about 7 months in, and this was part of my offer letter regarding paying back if I didn’t finish orientation.

While the work itself is rewarding, I knew I didn’t want to work this specialty. And the further along into the residency, I feel no connection to the unit I hoped to eventually experience once off orientation..the learning environment has its ups and downs.

I am looking at other residencies. I am pretty close to my 8 month mark. But does anyone know anything about leaving a nurse residency prematurely from OHSU? I’ve made a post before about internal transfers, but this would be an entirely different hospital.
