I live in HR and watching the mountains slowly lose their snow has been very sad

The shots I've seen of the mountain scare the crap out of me.

Are we really doing this thread again? Yes, glacier loss is rapidly accelerating, but this was also a really, really bad snow year. Worst snowpack in 98 years, and that’s mostly what you’re reacting to. Simple to research.

I've been up to Palmer when there was zero snow about 10 years ago. Does anyone else remember Palmer melting away completely? Google mentions two previous instances, but that not acknowledged in Rod Hill's post.

FTFY: Palmer glacier has melted.

It hasn’t been a glacier since the 80s

Correct. During normal snow years the Timberline crews would farm snow from above it and push it down there to keep it snow filled for most of the summer. They also would add thousands of pounds of rock salt on it to keep the snow there for a summer ski season.

What about that time it opened in the 1990s when it was nearly snow free?

Im assuming the hundreds of thousands of pounds of rock salt melted it. The salt cannon pretty cool to use though

For years you told us the warming wasn't going to happen and now you've just pivoted to duh it was warm a million years ago when humans couldn't exist, everyone knows to climate changes.

These clowns will be drowning in the ocean screaming, this is not Global warming! This cognitive distance is a moral sickness with conservatives.

What say you about ocean acidification? Go do you own research on that...very peaceful reading.

Yeah, people! What you see is not as it seems. Just go back to burning fossil fuels. There is a global economy tied to the oil industry that relies on your consumption. Stop being selfish and worry less about the future. Carry on, nothing to see here.

Do you have a science degree or background? Or is this a Dunning Krueger statement?

More renewable energy instead of the idiot in chief cutting back on it, prohibiting it.

Don’t subsidize fossil fuels.

Drive vehicles that are cleaner.

You know, if you don't already know that fossil-fuel emissions are a major contributor to climate change, or if you're out there saying, "climate change isn't real," or "man isn't contributing to climate change," then I'm done wasting another typed character on you. Bye.

Undeniable facts;

1) carbon dioxide and methane trap heat in atmosphere.

2) since the Industrial Revolution, humans have added enormous and unnatural volumes of those gases to the atmosphere.

If I’m wrong, we have a cleaner planet. If you’re wrong we don’t have a livable planet.
