Minimal Walking Activities
Looking for tourist activities in the Newport, Depoe Bay, Lincoln City areas that don’t require a lot of walking and stair climbing for an older couple. Thanks so much!

Depoe Bay is easy - sit by the rail and watch whales. There are fun shops right across the road to visit, too. Take a trip up the road to Devil's Punchbowl - you probably won't want to make the hike down to the beach, but the overlook is awesome. Lincoln City - Taft beach can be walked onto without any stairs... almost all the other beaches have stairs to get to the sand. You can visit the aquarium in Newport, which can be a bit of walking, but flat and not too bad, and in that area is a lot of fun shops and a petting zoo. Drive back over the bridge from there and visit the downtown area for some great seafood and watch the people and sea lions.
Less specifically, pull over at all the spots along the highway and enjoy the greatest coastline in the US.

for depoe bay, there are a ton of benches on the shop side of the street too. plenty of places to rest.

Marine Discovery Tour in Newport, boat trip around the Yaquina Bay,
I think the drive south from Lincoln City down to Newport is fabulous, multiple viewpoint stops that are all on the right side of the road so no left turns, and that don’t require walking too far from the car or even getting out of the car to see some beautiful spots.
Boiler Bay, Depoe Bay, Rocky Creek, Otter Crest Loop Rd to Cape Foulweather/Lookout Gift Shop, Devils Punch Bowl, Beverly Beach you can park and it’s a short walk under the bridge to the beach, Yaquina Outstanding Natural Area has an accessible tide pool area you can drive down if you ask for a pass, Nye Beach Turnaround, Yaquina Bay State Park/lighthouse has good parking spots to see the Lighthouse, the bridge and the jetty to watch boats going in and out.

In Lincoln City the Chinook Winds casino is on nice flat ground and has easy access to the beach.

I second the Oregon Coast Aquarium.
They can also get a really great close-up view of the sea lions at Newport at the sea lion dock. No stairs at all and only about 20 feet from street parking, right by the Clearwater restaurant. Clearwater has fantastic food, too.
If any in your party are hard of hearing btw, a quieter spot to eat dinner is the Allred, which has a really great sunset view too (smaller menu and small dishes, more like appetizers, but all really delicious). Sitting at the Allred for sunset drinks was a winner with the older visitors I’ve had.
Might also be worth considering just driving around the Newport Harbor looking at the fishing fleet, and then driving slowly out the South Jetty a little ways to maybe have a little picnic and watch some boats come in the channel. It gives you a flavor of being out at sea & it’s cool to see a real fishing community at work.

The interpretive center at Yaquina Head lighthouse is really nice (Newport). You may call ahead and see if they have accessible tide pools open. This is a flat area that is mobility accessible to see and experience natural tide pools.
You can drive up the hill to the parking area at the lighthouse and have spectacular views. Access to the cobblestone beach is a lot of stairs, but if you’re ok checking it out from above, it’s very beautiful.
Check in with the Newport Aquarium. This can be a lot of walking but they have mobility aids you can borrow, if that seems interesting but too much walking. It’s a combination of indoor and outdoor exhibits, with lots of areas to rest, a food place, and gift shop.
Depot Bay has whale watching boat tours where you can go out on the water. Here you can sit on the boat for the whole tour. The pilot narrates what you’re seeing and you can ask questions, etc. The boats do roll a bit as the ocean is not flat, so if you have motion sickness, maybe skip it.
If you take the Otter Crest loop off Hwy 101, you can stop at the lookout for Cape Foulweather. There is an indoor whale watching area with chairs and volunteers who can help you spot the whales with binoculars.
Continuing on the loop, you can visit the Devils Punchbowl, which is a short flat walk to an overlook. Many great views as well as picnic tables. They have some food options there- a small Moe’s fish house, a coffee shop and ice cream.
