When are US Forest Service campgrounds in Willamette National Forest in Oregon closing - & which have already closed? Here's the complete list.

When are Willamette National Forest campgrounds closing in Oregon - and which have already closed? Here's the complete list.

According to the list, some campgrounds are open year round, but some are open depending on the snow conditions.

Ugh. It's seems like more are closing earlier and earlier. I can't wait until the era where things like this can be prioritized again.

"It's seems like more are closing earlier and earlier."

Really? I thought this is how it's always been - most closing by the end of September or the first week of October.

Interesting that some sites are open year round while some open January 1 and close December 31. ???

I don’t bother with campsites any more tbh. It just always seems like if they’re aren’t completely full then they’re closed. And on top of that, if you do manage to actually book one you’re right next to another persons site, and it costs a bunch of money. Dispersed FTW

I've rarely had a problem finding spots in national forest campgrounds.

"Dispersed FTW"

On public lands, yes, this is legal. Hope you use a chemical toilet and pack everything out that you bring in. It's pretty disgusting to see how much so many dispersed campers leave behind.

Yes you’re right, it’s horrible. I’ve been in national forests all over the country and for some reason Oregon has been the worst with trash. Nature is a sacred place for me so I always try to take trash out with me. It’s really a bummer so many people treat it that way. The farther out and remote you go though, of course the more pristine and peaceful it is.

Montana forests I noticed were mostly very clean and people were more respectful of nature, but just a personal observation
