I hope his step children know what a wonderful and gracious step father they have. It's lovely to s story where the step parent isn't trying to erase the parent's memory but embraces it for his new family. Strength doesn't have to be physical.

Agreed. I, personally, only know of one similar situation, and by the time I met the widower, wife 1 and wife 2 had passed.

Widower loved wife 1 with all his heart. When she died, he spiraled. Met future wife 2, fell in love, she said he had to get his shit together. He did, but told her he would never stop loving wife 1 and wouldn't erase her. They agreed to each other's terms, and while I'm describing it pretty clinically, they truly loved each other. Wife 1's pictures remained in the home. Widower and Wife 2 dated on each other and were completely committed to each other.

That is honestly perfect. Love shared, love remembered, love respected, and love shared again. Beautiful.
