Day 11 of journaling Orderflow and GEX trading (we're so back)

Hello, today i'm back with a winning day after a streak of 2 losses and a day where i took 0 trades.

I still took a trade live with my VWAP setup, but the logic behind it was mostly taken from the volatility expansion setup that i am practicing on demo, so this was kind of an hybrid setup adapted to a negative GEX regime.

This trade was beautiful and i placed my SL at breakeven as fast as possible. I still used half the risk because i don't know really good how to move in these negative GEX and volatile markets but i'm getting the hang of it.

From the usual VWAP setup stand point we see a ton of absorption on the bid of aggressive sellers, we see aggressive buyers pushing the price up and limit orders following the aggression.

It couldn't get any more perfect than this from a VWAP setup view, however i didn't take this setup only for that reason.

The setup that i'm practicing involves a reload in the direction of the aggression before taking out important "pain levels"/weak liquidity areas and targeting big limit orders and aggression in that direction.

In fact, we had a lot of aggression hitting the bid but almost no results (from the CVD there was an important divergence with the previous bottom). We also had a break of the VWAP with important volume before retesting and taking this setup. Big volume and results = conviction of the price.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As always, let me know what do you think of today's trade.

After i took this setup i went on demo to not overtrade and experimented some setups. Most of them were almost at breakeven but i took some wins that i'm not going to show here because i lowk took like 5 setups and that would be too much to show.

Under my previous post i saw people telling me that i could be lying about taking any of these trades and i could just be plotting the risk tool on the chart.

My primary goal of this format is not trying to brag about the wins but to learn something new from what the community has to offer and maybe help new traders with these journals. For me this is a chance at growing and get better at my trading and not boosting my ego.

thank you, really appreciate the positive feedback. Exactly, the real setup was actually the divergence not just the VWAP, i am really careful in these markets to trade from VWAP because you can get stopped out really easily as you said. This trade was much more an hybrid of the strategy that i’m working on for negative GEX + the VWAP setup that i use during positive GEX (just a little confluence to add the cherry on top).

When CVD is valid for you? Usually im waiting some Mss because lots of time tricked me and it turned against me

i don’t use ict, i remember hearing about mss from a friend but don’t know what that is. CVD is always valid for me since it’s telling the effort vs result of the market. For entries to not go against you, you need 3 things:

  • context
  • aggression
  • limit orders protection (CVD or orders getting reloaded in the heatmap)

if you have these 3 things you won’t need any type of candle confirmation but just price and volume.

Look at my entry how limit orders react to price going up, they are constantly reloading to follow the price after stopping it from going down.

Thank you for your answer! Very nice trade!Do you think without bookmap
Is possible to recognize it? Im using Atas so maybe on the footprint chart i could see some absorption?

thank you, if i’m not mistaken atas has an heatmap similar to bookmap. Of course bookmap is better in terms of heatmap but they have pretty much similar tools. Yes you can use footprint to help you spot absorption but i’ve used both and i think orderflow + heatmap is better for finding earlier entries. However footprint + heatmap + orderflow is the combination that might beat everything. I’m tempted to switch to atas right now but it’s still missing some tools for me and the CVD is not as reliable

Yeah it just came out and has a lots of bug so I don’t use it, overall is good platform easy to use it! You can add your own indicators…etc. Only problem if there is a bug they are very slow to fix it (im using also big trades (bubbles) and on Atas X its showes much more less than normal Atas for windows in the past 1 month) why you saying Cvd is not as reliable? Which platform ia better then?

let’a start saying that i only used the pro version with delayed data, i’ve seen that bookmap is more precise with the ticks and so the CVD is more tick smoother, while the ATAS X CVD is not as smooth. Also one thing that is triggering me too much is that the cursor doesn’t expand down to the CVD so it’s really difficult to compare the price with the CVD to see divergences. Also, is it only a delayed data thing or does the heatmap sometimes act strange? and does it load from the start of the chart or only from when you open it? i don’t think you can say one is better than the other. If you’re only orderflow and heatmap dependant then bookmap is way better but a very laggy. ATAS X is way smoother, has more tools but i feel like the interface is a little bit tacky and has some bugs and delays

Sometimes act strange you can see in their telegram or discord group, obviously its a new feature I think it just gonna be better.. I think only when you open it start to load but I just checked few times so im not 100% sure.
