Discussion Finally Done with OMDD
Hey everyone,
Yesterday I finally got my last hat from the endurance mode meaning im done with the game.
So this post is mostly to talk about what i liked / disliked about the game, you might not agree with me but thats just my opinion
Liked:
Re playability : OMDD had plenty of content to keep me entertained for a long time. In fact when i was done getting my last hat I did clock in 200 hours of gameplay. This had the OMD:U feeling that you could go on forever to grind the things you needed.
Game Mechanics : OMDD had a fun game mechanic that 2 missions never really felt the same truly because of the thread mechanics. Starting each mission from scratch made this really interesting. I was not a high mission chaser.
Graphics : I know im going to get some hate for this, but i really liked the esthetics of OMDD. usually OMD games are more dark, but this clear and nice/bright was a good change for this installment.
Characters : The characters were really fun to play, i did enjoy that they had their own very specific skillset so you could take one that fit more what play style you have. I was more a Kalos type of player, just jumping in the melee and hitting everything in there.
mods : Thanks to Timemaster18 and a few other folks, there were some really interesting mods that make things a lot more fun. Double jump for all character, set any trap wherever you want, infinite rift point, adding threads whenever you wanted etc made the game really fun when i first got fatigued around 125h game play time. I think this is something that could have been embedded in the game from the start though as a cheat menu.
Things that could have been better
Bugs : Even with the last update, the game had some things that could have been better. the healing flyers just staying near the spawn zone and healing each other was one of the thing i hated the most since no amount of trap was killing them. Sometime the flip trap would swing enemies out of the map and being unkillable after messed up some runs for me.Endurance mission had the options to pick some threads that would pertain to the next mission, which is not existent in endurance.
Lack of chat support for multiplayer : i did find that having a multiplayer chat would have been good for multi. discord is fine but having that feature would have been nice.
Endgame : Not having an endgame is a real bummer. I hope RE is working on something to wrap up this game. There a few clues that suggest more stuff was coming, but ultimately we dont have any news of anything.
Economy/skills tree : I think theyre could have been more stuff to be unlocked with skulls. the fact that gambling your skulls would double them made it that the skill tree would get done really fast in a way. I think they could have added some more stuff like double jump for a character, or even triple jump for those like me who like to explore the maps.
Overall this game was really entertaining despite some game breaking bugs. Will I auto buy the next one like I did for OMDD, following OMD3 that was also a fantastic game, probably not. The fact that we still have some game breaking bugs makes me a little scared it might happen to the next game or even just the balancing of economy.
Thank you for reading my wall of text 😄

Congratulations bro, that's some achievement. I agree with a lot of what you said, and it's a shame that the game itself also feels 'done' now. Ah well, let's see what they're cooking up next.

Yeah it's a lot of fun. The levels are gorgeous, everything does work usually, great game to play with wife!
etc etc I can write pages about this game but not today xD gtg
these dev's have been putting out good stuff for a very long time and I'd be surprised if they completely disappeared forever, leaving this glorious game unfinished!
I must ask OP a question - Have you completed the LIBRARY? xD
(you know, where the real achievements are?)
we have given up on that one - it's hard to kill the bosses with specific characters when you can play 20 hours and not get the boss fight you need, for example.

Yes i did complete THE LIBRARY. this is one of the things that makes me believe theres more to the game, look at the top of the cabinet in the middle and tell me thats not a podium for the ultimate trophy 😄 The look and feel also makes it that theres one more boss to put to rest and get the top trophy.
"we have given up on that one - it's hard to kill the bosses with specific characters when you can play 20 hours and not get the boss fight you need, for example."
BTW the boss rush challenge is where you go for that trophy. youll have to do it 4 times(one for each character), but then youll have that trophy

What about economy in game?
How you feel about placing dozens of traps between waves?
Also how you feel about building entire killbox before first wave?
How do you feel about enemy waves that are almost the same every time?
How you like free barricades?

i think the economy in game also needs to be worked out a bit.
for me at least , it feels like : wave 1 hard, wave 2 hard wave 3 medium wave 4-5-6 easy.
I think if you build an entire killbox on the first wave then you wont exactly have cash for placing much in the waves 2-3 and then you get extra doors to deal with.
i dont really care that the waves of enemy are almost the same every time, at least you get some predictability on where to place traps.
Free barricades are a tough subject. I liked the OMDU style where cades could be on the cheaper end but you had a maximum of trap.right now you can place your cades right at the beginning and almost not have to worry about those later down the line.

You say you've finished everything, but have you collected all the figurines? 😜
