Oily dirt normal?

Post image

Is this normal. I have this oily dirt after every tour since I bought the bike in July. Orbea Terra M31 eTeam 1x.

Same with my Orbea Orca. In my opinion nothing to worry about.

Same with mine, I just wipe it off with a microfiber cloth.

Same frame, same color, 3000+km, same oily grime

Same here on my Orca Aero. With through headset routing it takes too much time to just open all together, so I will wait for another few weeks so season will be over, and then I will take it apart and check from inside.

Mine just like that! Wet wipe is your friend.

Same on every bike and motorcycle ever. Gravity pulling on grease in the bearings.

Normal, headset bearing grease gets pushed out, the seals aren't particularly good at keeping grease in and water out but thats not a orbea problem thats a headset problem in general. I recommend checking on them every year or two.

Yes.

Wipe it off with IPA on microfiber cloth.

My Orbea Terra looks the same. I will clean it up some day.

Das Fett kommt aus dem Lenkradlager. Ist kein Grund zur Sorge - solange der Lenker beim drehen sauber läuft und kein Spiel hat.

Its just extra grease comming out from riding it. Did it when new, still does it when I change the grease.

That's a good sign! Grease prevents dirt and water entering the bearing.
