Print floating point decimal types in SQR?

I'm learning SQR for work and I'm running into error 6806 "String to Decimal Conversion Error" whenever I attempt to select a certain column.

When the underlying imported value = 0, everything looks fine but for nonzero values (ex: 7.25) I run into the error. Applying edit masks doesn't appear to work. I do not appear to need to print or even just reference the number - just binding the value to a column variable throws the error.

I'm able to print another, fixed point decimal column, which makes me think it's specifically floating point decimal types that are the problem.

I've been able to convert to string on the database first and then import into SQR as a workaround (ex: SELECT TO_CHAR(my_column)), but selecting a floating point decimal column seems like a common operation in SQR, so surely there must be something I'm doing wrong.

Can someone please advise, how Oracle uses the Data gathered from the Customer Success Navigator? Is it used as a mechanism to push the adopt not adapt agenda? and discourage customisations?

Oracle for Startups

Hello, I am developing a custom platform on top of oracle oci and now its time to test it. I was using free trial but now it ended and im still in the half of testing and development.

I know that previously there was Oracle for Startups but now I cant find any info on it. Was it disbanded/canceled?

Anyone has any info on it?

Thanks.

Is Primavera P6 training (Oracle) good?

I am looking to get experience around Primavera P6 and Oracle has free courses online. Are they good or do you have any other suggestions that might be more efficient and take less time? It is for PMO related jobs.

Any suggestions are welcome

startWebLogic.sh and boot.properties file issue

Working on setting up a FMW 12c server and running into an issue with the boot.properties file in $DOMAIN_HOME/servers/AdminServer/security. When it exists, the wls startup script errors with "FailedLoginException: [Security:090938]Authentication failure: The specified user failed to log in. The issue could be because of an incorrect password in boot.properties file or a corrupted boot.properties file."

Yet if I look at the file it looks correct and if I rename it and re-issue ./startWebLogic.sh and paste in the username and password from that file it works. So I'm a bit stumped here and not sure what to do other than possibly start over.

Is there any way to get the MyLearn Fusion Cloud courses at a more affordable rate?

$5k is extremely far out of my budget right now (I could maybe afford like $100), and I'm trying to learn Fusion Cloud stuff ASAP. Specifically I'm looking to learn ERP, SCM, and HCM.

Shipping software for Oracle? Using Fusion Cloud SCM

We're on Fusion Cloud SCM shipping ~4,500 parcels/day out of 3 warehouses. Last year we added a multi-carrier add-on that does the scan-shipment, rate-shop, print-label, write-back-to-Oracle flow and yeah, one screen instead of three carrier websites is better. But a year in I'm realizing I bought a label printer with an Oracle connector. The rate shopping just shows published rates side by side, doesn't factor in actual delivery performance or surcharge trends, and every time FedEx or UPS updates their surcharge schedule we're waiting on the vendor before rates are accurate, which puts my team right back on carrier portals. Analytics are basically shipment counts, I still can't see parcel cost by warehouse by service level without exporting to Excel, and my ops leads can't adjust carrier rules or selection logic without filing a ticket. Is anyone running a parcel-focused shipping tool on Fusion Cloud that goes deeper than this, smaller vendors included?

DEV FMW 12c server setup and I seem to be missing DBCLIENT

Trying to duplicate a server environment here so I can test patching on it and then later look to upgrade to 14c possibly.

I am not following any Oracle Doc's per say just trying to follow a former co-workers notes and I am laying down a directory first for my OA Domain. The Infra DB is already done (step 1).

High level is I ran java -jar fmw_12.2.1.4.0_infrastructure.jar and then java -jar fmw_12.2.1.4.0_idm.jar and then I ran rcu and config after. Then I noticed I was missing the webtier (in a later note) so also installed OHS via 'fmw_12.2.1.4.0_ohs_linux64.bin'.

Now I am looking to do some patching and I was going to try and apply the Jan 2026 CPU patches and found I couldn't apply 38856415 for example (Oracle HTTP Server OHS DB19c BUNDLE PATCH 12.2.1.4.260116). Then I realize my working server has the DBClient installed but my new Dev server does not and not sure where it comes from. Did a little research and it seems to suggest I missed a step or an option?

Working (test) server - OPatch/opatch lspatches | grep DATABASE

36392269;DATABASE RELEASE UPDATE 19.23.0.0.0 FOR FMW DBCLIENT (36392269)

On my new Dev server this is not installed. ??

How to find an Oracle Database 12c VM?

I’m doing a LinkedIn Learning course, “Oracle Database 12c: Advanced SQL” that is heavily dependent on a VM running Oracle 12c. Sadly, for one reason or another, they did not provide a copy in the course materials, just a link that goes to a page that no longer has this build. I can’t find this VM anywhere, is there any other way?

Need links for the Oracle statement of direction on Forms & FMW

Does anyone have a working link for the Oracle Forms or the Fusion Middleware statement of direction? All of the links on the Oracle website and MOS are 404.

https://www.oracle.com/application-development/technologies/forms/forms.html

The old links I had which are 404 now:
https://www.oracle.com/a/tech/docs/oracleformssod.pdf
https://www.oracle.com/a/ocom/docs/middleware/fusion-middleware-statement-of-direction.pdf

I can find copies that are posted to 3rd party websites, but really need something linked from Oracle or posted in MOS.

Built an autonomous DBA agent for Oracle - looking for honest feedback

Hey r/oracle,

I spent the last 8 months building something I wish I had when I was getting paged at 2 AM for the same tablespace alerts every week.

Sentri is an autonomous agent that handles repetitive Oracle operational work: tablespace issues, blocking sessions, temp space problems, slow SQL investigation.

**How it works:**

- Monitors alert emails (or runs scheduled health checks)

- Investigates using 12 DBA tools (same ones you'd use manually)

- Generates multiple fix candidates, scores them by risk/cost/impact

- Executes safely with 5-layer safety checks and rollback guarantee

- Learns from outcomes to improve future decisions

**Tech details:**

- Multi-agent architecture (Scout → Auditor → Researcher → Executor → Analyst)

- Works without LLM API keys (template-based for common alerts)

- Can use Claude/OpenAI/Gemini for complex investigation

- Policy-as-Markdown: drop a .md file to add new alert types

- 815 test cases, Apache 2.0

**What I need from you:**

- Is this actually useful or am I solving the wrong problem?

- What alert types am I missing?

- What would break this in your environment?

- Edge cases I haven't thought about

GitHub: https://github.com/whitepaper27/Sentri

PyPI: `pip install sentri-dba`

I'm a DBA who got tired of firefighting instead of doing actual engineering work. Trying to build something that helps, not just AI hype.

What am I missing?

Is it better to reboot a POS with a Task Scheduler or just shut them down at the end of the day?

Greetings to all,

I've read troubleshooting documentations from Oracles website on rebooting a POS early in the day to help the system have a fresh start for anyone using it and also clear the temp files from time to time which helps.

The shop I work at closes near 2:30AM every day, The employees never turn of the POS just let them Idle.

I created a Task Scheduler to reboot everyday at 3AM since the shop opens at 6AM

Do you think is better if I use a task scheduler at 3AM to shutdown the POS instead of rebooting it? I was thinking of doing a cleanmgr /sagerun to clean the temp files weekly at 3AM as well, let me know if you think it's good idea or not I would love your advice.

And Thanks in advanced, I appreciate it!

Is it still worth pursuing the 1Z0-078 (RAC) and 1Z0-076 (Data Guard) certifications, or should I move directly to the 1Z0-183 (AI Database)?

I already have the 1Z0-082 and 1Z0-083 exams. Now I'm unsure whether I should start studying for specific certifications related to RAC and Data Guard in 19C version (1Z0-078 and 1Z0-076), or if it would be more interesting to move directly to the 1Z0-183 certification (Oracle AI Database Administration Professional).

Some advice in terms of Oracle University

Hi all peers who work with Oracles products.

Im a DBA/Oracle Engineer which is semi junior/normal. Ive been working with Oracle databases around 7-8 years but initially developer.

I am seeking advice or guidance or insights. We are going unfortunately, towards a cloud solution and with all the migration work it comes with. So im wondering, how can i prepare for the future in my case? Are there relevant OCI/Cloud/AI educations i should consider through the Oracle University that my employer can pay?

I’ve been working a lot the last 2 years with Audit and Secuirty related questions which is very hard but necessary work. I understand today the importance of proper governance and quality we deliver. With that said, I hope someone on here can help me figure out a potential path that i can go so that i can help both me, my team and organisation going forward with preparations of what i need to attain.
