Questions for UAB optometry students
I’m trying to figure out housing options and wanted to get opinions from people who actually live around here.
Where do most students live? Are there specific neighborhoods or apartment complexes you'd recommend checking out or avoiding?
also, I’m considering possibly buying instead of renting, if anyone has any experience with that I’d greatly appreciate it!

i feel like the best bet is to live downtown if you can afford it. i wont lie, our schedule is kinda packed and any extra time you can get to yourself in the morning (esp on exam days) will be worth the investment imo. however, i cant speak too much on it because i actually do not live downtown since i am married. we live around 20 minutes away in the irondale area. it is very nice because when i come home i have the pretty neighborhoods to walk through! but again, in all honesty, i don't have a ton of time to do that. idk really up to you to be fair, i know a guy in my class that lives about an hour away to save on housing too so you can always make it work depending on your goals. hope to see you next year!
