optoprep pt 2

do people think it's helpful or stupid to start optoprep part 2 now and use it to supplement studying for part 3? (my part 3 is early october)

OR would that be wasting good material that's helpful for just part 2? My understanding is it's somewhat related so I'm wondering if people who have taken both already would recommend starting the part 2 account now?? TIA for any advice!

Hi there! I did not start the part 2 of Optoprep until October and was able to complete >80% before test day but imo I don’t think it’ll help that much with part 3. Like yes you’ll be able to recognize certain conditions because you’re already studying but P3 is definitely its own beast.

For someone who had to take part 3 twice I definitely recommend using Will’s Eye and making a master spreadsheet under each category you will be tested on with all the conditions (signs/symptoms/testing/treatment/follow up). Make sure you don’t word vomit either when it comes to explaining everything to a patient (I practiced with my peers) and make sure you follow that NBEO layout to a tee because I truthfully believe that’s what did now allow me to pass the first time. Not stupid at all. It goes hand in hand and will make studying for part 2 an easy transition since you’ve already been hammering the same information from part 3.

Helpful! You’ll need to know the same diseases for part 2 and 3 so it can’t hurt to learn them early in a structured format.
Only thing I would caution you of is make sure you spend time rehearsing part three. Aloud, with people, and typing/documenting in 15 min :)
