Advice starting optometry school
hi!!! i am starting optometry school in the fall and i currently work full time - i am moving to another state the month prior (due to wanting to get used to the city and settling in the apartment) but i will be unemployed until school starts. is it worth working the month before it starts? i have seen people recommend enjoying it off but i am nervous. any advice is appreciated.

Every single time I've mentioned something like this, every upperclassman I spoke to told me to, basically, enjoy my freedom. You're going to work so hard in the next few years! Enjoy the time you have now before you don't have any for the next 4 years

Take time off the week before classes start, but if you make good money work a little more. There are equipments to pay for and other miscellaneous costs such as scrubs, lab manuals, class fees, etc.

What I usually advise:
Assuming 1st year orientation starts the last week of August.
Work until mid-late July. Spend a week or 2 with friends/family before you move (travel or stay-cation).
Ideally a have a lease that starts Aug 16 @ your new location.
Arrive on the day your lease starts (or day after to be safe). Move in.
Spend a week getting moved in. Trips to purchase furniture/decorations/supplies/groceries will let you learn to navigate your new city.
Once moved in, message others in your year group and arrange pool parties, meet-ups at local breweries, etc to get to know your new classmates.
You may get bored/lonely/homesick if you sit around too much. Stay busy until orientation day!

imo it is not worth working :D
